Player C2C Settings not saving
I am now using your Updater since I had so many pieces of your UI.
 . The main problem I have is that after I change the settings for the Player's Self cure potions to my level 40 "Superior Trauma Remedy" item ID and so on, making sure I click Save on everything, when I camp back to desktop, the UI/DrumsUI/POI/drumsui_textsettings.xml is just gone and when I log back in, everything is back to the defaults.While I am playing, it is using the correct potions. It's just not saving them permanently. I'm running Windows XP as administrator so I have the necessary permissions. Hmm.. looked in ui.log and I found the following: Couldn't load .xml Encountered data outside of container tags :: Could not access resource drumsui_textsettings.xml :: Could not access resource drumsui_textsettings.xml :: Could not access resource drumsui_textsettings.xml Thoughts?

Hmm. Now that's a strange problem for sure, especially because it's removing the file completely like that.
Were you having this problem before, or is this your first time you've used that window?

I had been using the Player window piece before and it always seemed to loose the settings for my level 40 toon. My main is a 90 Warden so I just do Cure. So, I just finally went into your default settings file and put the level 40 potions in there and removed the high level ones.
I may try again in Windowed mode to see if it's modifying anything as I make changes. I am also using your Group window now as well, which also looses anything I set since the file seems to disappear. :/

Well, the writing of new data uses the same method as the Map works, saving information to a separate POI file, which is one of the files you listed above.
I'm not sure what would be preventing your game from successfully writing to said file.  Where do you have the game installed to? Any sorts of anti virus running? Just kind of stabs in the dark, but maybe we can make sound ground on the problem. At the very worst, I can explain how to edit the default file for you from out of game.

Well, I let the updater download a new file since it was missing and loaded up the game with a Windows explorer window open on the 2nd monitor. I normally play full screen on the 1st. I started my 40th level toon first and as I changed each item, I could tell that it was updating the file as I could see the date change on it. Once I was done I switched to Windowed mode and made a back-up of the file and then camped. The file stayed.
Went back into EQ2 with my main and saved her settings and camped. The file stayed with my changes. So... I don't know what was going on before and why it worked this time. I then tried to add a note to an item to test that out.. and amazingly the first one I tested it didn't want to work very well with. Seems like it couldn't read the note it saved.. it just kept saying "Add a note". Maybe it was having a problem with an Appostrophe in the Item name. It saved it, just wouldn't display it: Code:

Glad you got the first thing working.
As for the Item Notes, I'm not sure. I tested out items with Apostrophes and dashes and the such and they should be working fine. But it is a new feature and needs the testing work from others  It might be the initial saving of the apostrophe items that needs looking into. Ones that already have notes will probably work. I'll look into it as I can!

Yeah.. it was able to read that item when I went back in game. Just seems like it can't view the note during that session. It won't even show the note after you've saved it on the Edit dialog.
Edited a few more items... then camped and the whole notes file was gone :/ Made a backup before I went in game so I can restore what I had. None of the newly added items that had Apostrophe's could be read during the session, only the one's without. Anyway.. different problem. If I can come up with something concrete, will make a new thread or post on someone else's if they chime in.

Alright, well thanks for the feedback. I'm pretty sure I had everything working 100%, I may have just changed some code unintentionally, so I'll check into things later this eve.

Mysstie, if you could test this "fix" for me, I would be greatly appreciated.
This file (attached below) should allow you to save new items notes for items with apostrophes in them. After this I think I'll make seperate files each for the Group/Raid Click code and the Item Notes code, and I'll include them in the add_poi file so that I can update those mods separately once I know this code is working correctly

Ok.. it does work better. It now shows Notes I add to items with Apostrophes on the fly and it let me edit an existing one. However, when I camped and looked at the file, it only had 3 of what I made during the session and the rest that were already in there were gone. Originally the file had all of your items plus 4 that I did. Now, it just has these:

Ok.. this time I was able to make the same changes as I did before and it kept all the old information plus my updates after camping. The file now has 26 lines of code.
I checked the ui.log and it just had this: Quote:
So, I'll just turn off the virus scanner or try excluding that directory so it leaves those files alone and see how it keeps going.

Good news
And I believe even the default UI gets an error like this, along with other weird ones! I'll be pushing this file to the updater and my download pages soon. I'm going to do as I said and splice some code out of the files and separate the click-to-cure and the Item Notes stuff so I only have to update the corresponding individual download pages in the future. -Drum

I'm having the same problem. I play a dirge and all of my Click Button Settings are refusing to save. I have created a text file so I am just cuttings and pasting now, cos every time I restart the settings have gone back to default. I've run the updated files today, no change. I'm not using the fill interface btw, just PLAYER / GROUP / RAID /MARKETPLACE. I am, just Windows Essentials. Never had the problem before GU57 though =/
If you like I can switch my anti virus off tomorrow when I play and log in and out, see if that makes any difference. Btw, if you'd prefer me to make a seperate thread from Mysstie's let me know Cheers.

FYI, I turned my Virus Scanner back on but had it exclude DrumsUI and it's subfolders and everything seemed to work ok. Added some item notes and they saved and my C2C settings also remained intact.
I suppose one way to confirm that it's the VS doing it would be to turn it back on and see if the problem comes back.

Hey Drumstix and Mysstie
JUst to let you know I excluded the drumsUI file from my virus scanner and the Click Button Settings are now savings as they were before the game update. Hurray! Thanks for help with this.

DrumsUI folder is still excluded from my virus scan. I'm baffled.
