Default old map was better

I guess that I'm the minority. Dont like the new map, can't even see your location among the other same color blips, liked the old map better.

Totally agreed. Oldies are the goodies on this one.

i dont agree. i think you just have to get used to the new one . the system is new and hasnt recieved all the love yet so there are a lot of things to be added .while i do think the new map could use more definition its not really worse than the old one.

give it some time

do believe Options>User Interface> Maps uncheck new system is a nice thing.

I gotta agree I wish it would use both old and new system and that after installing custom icons it stayed that way. Instead gotta reinstall the custom ones each time I update this maps

I dont even want to imagine how horrible it would be using the old map system in moors. My guild and I have been really enjoying the new map system. Can find the POI's I'm looking for so much faster now.

Get rid of old habits. Zoom in on the map. Make suggestions of "better". Sharper icons I can see as really only being the weakness of the new maps.

Really don't see how the old map was superior in any way.

Old maps were ugly and fairly useless. New maps are pretty and have stuff marked on them. ^.^

For custom icons, you just need to mark the customized files read-only so the updater can't overwrite them. There's only 3 of them, though right now the _Skinnable_POI_Icons.xml file seems to be in a fair amount of flux so it may be a pain keeping it updated.

I'm working on a small-plain-dot alternate icon set, I'm just waiting for the _Skinnable files to get decently stable before I start digging in to assign sensible colors to each icon type and update the POI icons XML to use them. I think we're pretty close now.

There are no new icons planned for the moment.
If we do some changes now, its mostly size tweaks.
But feel free to suggest new types and we see what we can do.

I think the types are OK, it's the sizes that's mostly what I'm waiting on. If they're relatively stable, I can draw the dots the right size in the .dds so they show at the size I want on the map. I think the set of types is OK as-is, since I'm mostly collapsing colors (eg. all types of city vendor the same color).

No need to wait, make your own skinnable_poi_icon.xml file, then you can tweak the size your self, but for now you need to make it readonly or the updater will overwrite it. Need to have it this way some time or else old users won't get our tweakes.

agreed I don't like the new map. i'm use to everything being small now all the icons are big. on my map alot of the icons overlap. don't like the arrows for the zones or the people they added for the npc's just over all i don't care for it.
