CLR Error: 80004005

CLR Error: 80004005 The Program will now Terminate
Getting this error after install on a new machine with framework 2.0. I unintalled redownloaded and reinstalled and then hit okay to start it now and I get the error.

Off the top of my head, Have you tried the microsoft site to look up the error code? As belive it or not somtimes there is some usefull info on there lol not all the time likes

try installing the .net framework 1.1 if possible, since that is really what the updater is written for.

I have tried with 1.1 and 2.0 and got the error with both. I'll check MS and see what I find. I'll let you know.

Fancy that. I found it.

To resolve this problem, you must apply hotfix 835763. Hotfix 835763 is a prerequisite for the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 and the .NET Framework 1.0 SP3. This hotfix is part of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Earlier versions of these operating systems require this hotfix. For example, Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4), Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP SP1 require this hotfix.

This is a good FYI since most of the problem people have is not having the .NET Framework. Since .NET has to have the hotfix as well.
