Default Everquest 2 Beta Giveaway!

EQ2Interface.com is proud to be working with Sony Online Entertainment to give away ten beta slots each week for three weeks. That means that a total of thirty EQ2Interface.com users will joining the ranks of those in Everquest 2 Beta.

To keep the contest as fair as we can, we have setup a page that you will fill in some basic info, along with a few items we are using to track winners. Please read all the rules prior to completing the form. We will be using a randomizer script to pull the winners from the list. Please do not ask us to get you in, we will tell you that you have the same chance as anyone else!

To enter the EQ2Interface Beta Raffle simply go to the link to the left and fill in the info it ask for.

The drawing will take place on Thurday(s) at 10am PST, in the hopes that winners will be able to join the game for the weekend (but we make no promises. It is up to SOE). The next drawing will be Oct 21nd followed by Oct 28th. You only need to enter once. All entries will have a chance at each drawing (except for the winners, they get flagged so they can't win again). We will announce the winners the following Friday by 12pm PST.(SOE has said that we CAN announce the winners here on our site.)

Dolby and I are very excited to bring this to you. Good luck to everyone and remember to read all the rules.

Addendium 10/15: Starting Next week 10/21 we will be doing the drawing on Thursday, and will be emailing the winners to have them confirm their status. Winners will have 24 hours to reply or we will draw another name. SOE can only give us 30 slots and its up to our site to confirm the winners (SOE is to swamped to track everyone of them to see if they all got to the person). Having the winners confirm they won will allow us to know that every slot was given out and take the burden off of SOE. So I will not be posting the winning names untill Friday to give the winners time to reply. Moving the drawing back to Thursday will give the winners time to confirm and allow us to still get the names in to SOE on Friday

Question: If you are chosen to be one of the beta testers for EQII, will you be able to keep the character once the full-version is released?

Most of the time characters are wiped at the end of beta. I doubt that this will change for EQII. Don't count on keeping your characters.

its a lot better when they whipe them anyways
in lineage 2, we got to keep our characters, which in turn gave us an unfair advantage to others who didnt get in the beta
really sucks when youre in beta, but your friend isnt, and so you cant really party together
he was a dwarf on top of that, oso slow leveling

Gotta love beta giveaways!

On the subject of keeping beta characters, Mortis is right...EQ2 will be no different in that your character in the final phase of beta will be wiped before the game goes gold. There's multiple reasons for this, but it mainly helps to keep the beta testers from having an unfair headstart over those who weren't in beta. The knowledge you gain in testing the game out before it is released is advantage enough, you can skip the phase of total newbdom.

Lineage II, from what I hear, was or rather is a horrible game and the lack of a beta character wipe was only icing on the cake. Not wiping beta chars is one of the most stupid decisions a dev team can make.

Hope I win! ....err wait.

Yeah beta charaters will be wiped I'm sure. However just being in beta gives you a leg up (if wanted) once they go live becuase you wont spend much time figuring stuff out. The coolest part I like about beta's is that you get to help make the game better with your /bug reports and /feedback.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I agree that it would give an unfair advantage, but there's also a benefit to having mid-level characters in the game. With everyone being new, it's a great asset to having a "big brother/sister" around to assist you (buffing, healing, tanking, etc.)

However, I'm not counting on this. I'll just be happy to test it out before the release date

This is the 8th beta giveaway contest I entered,.I hope I'm one of the next lucky winners..

Good luck to you all! And if you get in and I don't,Please be a good sport about it...

BTW, you wont be keeping your beta characters..Lineage 2 was the only MMO i know of that allowed players to keep their beta characters..

thats a very stupid decision imo..

The fact that Lineage II allowed beta testers to keep their characters was the main reason why I've decided not to play it. Besides their lousy character customization. (Every character looks like quadruplets!).

NCSoft also allowed a 3 day head start in CoH with a pre order, but that really didn't matter as much. Since you can't really gain anything except levels. You do not receive special "items" to help you or gather anything that you could craft since nothing of those sorts are involved with that game. Basically, the only thing you could gain was the appearance of ' Looking Cool with that new power! '

Default Glad to be here

First off, thanks for the opportunity to get into Beta..

Secondly, Lineage II was an awful game. Its a PvE game wrapped with pretty PvP wrapping paper. Being in Closed beta and Open beta, I agree that keeping beta characters into retail is indeed an unfair advantage.

The biggest problem with L2 was in fact that they didn't care that exploits killed the item market. ALOT of very good items were dupped as well as adena. It virtually killed the market. The haves were gods and the have nots were left to struggle. The game was beautiful to look at and had NO support or substance. I really had high hopes for that game until EQII came out. Having played it for about 6 months, I must say that it still brings up bad memories. Anyways, that is ancient history. EQII is SOOOOO close to coming out that it doesn't matter any more. Hopefully I can get into beta to start trying things out.

Thanks again EQ2 Interface!!!

Default Character wipes

I was in the beta for SWG and we all hoped the same thing; that they would grant the ability for characters who were in beta to keep their levels, items, etc.. but the reality is that there are sooooo many beta testers that you would really be upset if someone got to keep their things and level through luck of the draw.

Yes, the beta testers are providing a valuable service to Sony but the truth is Sony is giving them something very valuable as well. The ability to save hours and even days trying to find the best places to level and the fastest ways to level that give them a huge advantage to those of us still praying to make it into beta.

My suggestion is that if you make it into beta, A) provide as much feedback as you can because you are making the game bug free so that you are not upset about being stuck in a wall while a monster beats you to death and B) figure out where and how you can go from level 1 - 15 in 5 hours instead of 5 days!!!

Good luck everyone!

Well I havent said this yet but, "thanks for the beta chance Interface"!

As far as Lineage went... I despise that game in almost all aspects. Its lack of character options and customization (previously stated). People hacking it and shafting players like me who came on late. The people running macros were EVERYWHERE (gathering items from creatures meant for mid level players and hording huge amounts of cash)... I personally feel all macro users should be shot and left wounded, only to bleed to death... but thats another story.

SWG was released while the game was still in Beta. I was one of the early beta testers and it seemed to me the game was more stable before release. Then there was huge exploits people took advantage of. Specificly a rifle that allowed people to do thousands of points of damage quickly. Those people maxed out their levels within a day or two and they were given no penalty for exploiting! Then came the item lock issue upon death where you could'nt recover your items because they somehow managed to insert themselves in invisible containers which you could not access. This could result in hours of work down the drain. I quit that game for its rediculous bugs.

of course... it wasnt exactly like EQ in its first year didnt have major issues. Ahhh the memories!

Red face Beta Contest

I want to say thank you much for taking the initiative to give those a chance at the Beta that were less fortunate to receive it prior. I know I am greatful to have another chance to try again for beta.

Thank you.

I am currently playing in EQ I and I have a lvl 57 cleric and 6 other characters. I enjoy playing them all because each one is different.
