Default GeForce 7900GTX (512mb)

Been eyeballing the new batch of nVidia cards and the 7900GTX looks promising.

Has anyone tried this card with EQ2? If so, how does it perform?

Can't wait to fire it up and see what it can do.

Sweet, congrats on that...

I'll be buying a new gfx card as soon as there pops in some cash... Dunno what's the best price worth AGP cards atm since PCI-Express came. For a long time it was 6800GT but that was a few months ago.

I take it the 7900GTX is PCI-Express?

Aye, it's PCI-E. My other box has an AGP port and it got cranky about the 7900 so I had to get a new card for that one too hehe. Ended up with a very nice bargain price on a 6800 card with 512mb. Roughly translated from my currency it was in the neighbourhood of 150 bucks or so.

The 7900 is another story though hehe. But I've always held the firm belief that it's more fun to pay a lot every few years rather than dishing out smaller amounts more often. Also, I got inspired by the impeding release of Oblivion so I felt an upgrade from my old X800XT was in order.

I totally agree with you about spending the cash on the best cards every few years or so.

Hasn't been that long for me yet, but I feel there is a need for an upgrade. When I bought my "new" computer the Gforce FX 5900ULTRA was the best card out there. Seeing how things look today it's about close to ancient. lol
I definately need a new one. The rest of the hardware is still up to todays standards. Not much change has happend there.
