Help, I can't get UI to work.

This is my first UI. I read the FAQ's for installing. I downloaded and put in UI folder. I am trying to get laff_lite to work and have changed eq2.ini to load it when I start. When it loads up the backgrounds of the bars are black and when I open window settings it is really dark and I the slider bars don't get rid of the black. I have tried three different UI complete set mods and can't get them to look right, mostly they have black backgrounds and window settings won't get rid of it. Help plz.
