Default Dressing Room #1 Addon

dressing room = a way to see what you look like with armor/weapons.

Being able to view what i look like when someone messages me an item they just got.
Being able to view what i look like when looking for items in Auction.

Voting:
1 = You like
2 = Screw that

Sorry, but just as in real life, the only way to see how you look when wearing or carrying something is, well, to wear or carry it.

In World of Warcraft there is a mod called Dressing Room. That mod is one of the most used in this game, only because u can see what u look like with items.

How it works is:
When you see an item/armor piece you like, you can CTRL + Lft.Click that items name. It then brings up a seperate window with a 3D-model of your character. Now you see yourself wearing that item.
A lot of people i'm sure have wanted an addon like this.

Yes maybe so but the WoW code is lets just say less restricted than SoE's...

But they have been messing with the paperdoll and I can see its connection in the char creation page now, But its use ingame to be able to move the view on it is of no use at all that I can see ... so just maybe it might be in the pipeline or somthing like that maybe... /shrug

Is this really a big thing in WoW?

Honestly, when I'm getting new equipment for my characters, I don't care how it looks - I'm concerned about the stats. So far I haven't run across any two pieces of equipment that had identical stats across the board. Sometimes I might have to choose between which stats I want - more agility vs strength, or which resists I want. But even decisions like that are going to be based off my current stats. If the stats are bad, there's no way I'm paying for it, and if they're good, I don't care if it makes me look like an inside-out troll.

So far the only things I've kept strictly for looks are some quested armor and a couple of robes, and all of them have minimal stats, so I'll wear them to craft.

I could see this being useful, if only considering which upgrades to make. Sure, the gear may not be identical, but if I was debating between taking a rare and crafting armor for it, or buying/hunting a drop that was similar in stats, how it looks could end up being the deciding factor. As the saying goes, the clothes make the man. Looking the part is (almost) as important as playing the part.

Ditto here.

Why do you need to see what the gear will look like on you before buying it? Are you worried the Norrathian Fashion Police will arrest you??

Since my wizzy had to spend lvl 30-40 in a pink dress that I paid 2 plat for I can see where an option to see the actual graphic instead of the thumbnail graphic would be great. However I imagine it would be easier for soe to set up a website showing all the gear than it would be to code in a dressing room. Or, if anyone knows of such a site already I would like to know about it.

This isn't actually a mod in WoW. It's built in. I suspect that this is in the works for EQ2. If you want to know when, I'd have to say Soon™.

From Game Update #27: Sept 6, 2006

*** User Interface ***

- The character portrait in the inventory window now has a plain background and no longer follows the animations that your character makes in the game world. You can use your mouse to rotate your character around. Why make such a change? We're keeping that under the cloak of secrecy for now...
