Default Main map won't work anymore.

I Know NOTHING about how to change stuff in this game other than with the instructions given in the game itself. (which is not enough for me.) This is the message I get when I start up the game:

The Main HUD Map2_clone_1 window is not compatible with the current client. Please upgrade your UI mod to a compatible verion or revert to the default UI (/loaduidefault).

HUH? I have NO idea how to do this. Does anyone here? Do I have to buy a new version of the game or what?

I'm in the game something of Velios or something like that. Two uprades ago....Anything will help....thanks....ORF

What UI mod are you using? If you're using EQ2MAP, you need to run the auto-updater to update your map window. If you're using another UI mod, you need to check with them for an updated map.

Thanks for your info! I'm using whatever UI mod came with the Velios download when I bought it....Do I look this stuff up in the game folder on my hard drive? I am an EXTREME newbie to modifying anything in this game been playing since '08, but never did any modifications to the game itself....

You have to be using a custom UI, the default is by definition always up to date (unless SOE makes a major mistake). The easy way to check is to go to your EQ2 install and look for your EQ2.ini file (depending on your windows setting, it may show up just as "EQ2" of type "Configuration file"). In there if you have a line that starts with cl_ui_skinname then you definitely have a custom UI.

My guess is you probably have EQ2MAP, it's very common and doesn't modify the UI other than by adding all of the player-submitted POIs to the map.

Thanks, again for your info! stumbling around I opened up a file called EQ map, and what you mentioned about skins appeared there, and I just found a Map updater here on this site, installed it, and the Map is back! The person who made it made it auto update, so hopefully I won't run into this problem again. You were also right that I was using an EQ2 map updater I had found a couple of years ago...luckily for me in installed itself and all of that, Like this new one did, and That's the way I like computer stuff (at least for games!) I'm so happy the map is back! Thank you once again for your help!!!
