I'd love to use this program but i cant seem to make it work. Everytime i launch it i get the following error

Error Getting File List:
The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

I do not have a firewall running and everything else that requires net access to work works fine. I have microsofts dotnet framwork 1.1 installed and i have followed all the other instructions that i could find on this program. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i might resolve this problem?

Well, you could just download the zip file, and install it yourself. Its not as easy, but it will work.

I have noticed that when I run with the /testserver command line option and Autorun EQ2, my TestServer installation gets overwritten with the characters from my main installation. This overwriting does not occur is I cancel the autorun and start TestEQ2 manually. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

the test server mode is screwed up and launches the wrong file, it will be fixed in the next version of the updater that is coming, i just have been too busy with school.

When I start up the updater, it runs fine, but I can't see what it's doing because I only have the upper left corner of the window showing with no way to enlarge the window. I know I saw some others with this same problem but didn't see a resolution.

Windows XP Pro, SP2
Pentium 4, 3.2
MSI nVidia GeForce 5950 Ultra video card
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro sound card
Abit IC7-MaxIII motherboard
1 GB Corsair XMS LL DDR3200 Pro
* running McAfee Security Center (virus, firewall,spam,privacy)

Once EQ2 starts, the maps seem to be there and functioning fine.

its because you are not running at a normal dpi, set your dpi to the default and you will be able to see the whole thing. if you dont know how to do that check the troubleshooting thread,

What is a NORMAL DPI? I run my desktop at 1600x1200. That is normal for me. It is a fairly simple fix for you to 'unlock' your window so people can change the window to fit THEIR normality. It is, of course, not easy to push that update to everyone.

1600x1200 would be resolution, not dpi

. normal DPI is 96 dpi, the window will be resizeable in the next version i release, but its taking me a while because it will be the last version of the updater i release before i quit eq2

My friend's girlfriend tried to install EQ2Map without fully reading the instructions on the page, and of course screwed it up. The .NET 1.1 framework was not previously installed on the computer, and the usual critical error was received when she tried to run it. Now, though, they have reinstalled EQ2 and the .NET framework, and uninstalled the EQ2Map, and Everquest will allow him to log in, but as soon as it tries to render on the character select screen or game world, it crashes, with a critical error:

...verify: C:\live\eq2\framework\core\devices\src\DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp (840).

He has the latest version of DirectX (9c) and it is working correctly. How do we reinstall the framework file it is trying to verify?

I have tried all different things to correct this problem, but as of yet I have not been very successful. I installed the beta EQ2 Map Updater, but it will not load the maps from the EQ2 Map site. I have no problems reaching this map site via web address (so I know it's not blocked by my computer) yet the Beta Map Updater won't load. I always get the message:

that is completely unrelated to the updater, its a direct x problem, try posting your error on the official eq2 forums for tech support, and searching there as well.

the updater cant connect to the server to get the file list. does the updater look like the picture below with the action canceled in it?

ahhh man ... sorry to see you leaving the game... Your mod is by far the best and most useful out there. Ok all that a side I have one suggestion.

When the program is run for the first it automatically starts dumping the information into the default UI folder. By by default I am running a mod so I have to stop it half way through the load and change the UI directory in the options section to the mod I am using (fetish in this case).

It would be nice to see that the first time it is run either the option window pops up first or a window to choose the ui folder before downloading starts right away. Other than that... I have no complaints on this tool.

i need help bad its really driving me crazy. i installed it and then it says the ui directory is set to: default that is not a custom folder directory the updater wil not download any files til this is corrected. HELP ME PLZ. i have tried everything here and every time it keeps saying this. thank you

delete your eq2.ini file, you set it up incorrectly and it is preventing you from using an incorrect eq2.ini file. you can re-set one up properly, or just run the updater without setting one up and it will make you one that is set up properly itself. if you have any more problems please use the troubleshooting forum for eq2map.

Yup it is wrong... read the sticky thread on this topic. You need to contact your AntiVir company and tell them your getting a false positive.

Hey taco, this was brought up in a different thread, but I thought I'd throw this out here in case it'd help with the EverQuest2.exe not wanting to que correctly from the Updater:

Just wanted to say thanks for making this mod. For ages I've been moaning to my guild about the fact that I couldn't find my way around certain zones because SOE didn't include a map. Of course, one of my guildmates piped up about this mod. I've installed it, and it is AWESOME!

Hi guys. Top notch job on the mappack, but I have one problem. Did a browse but didn't see it listed.

I don't see the big red dots for group members on my map now, since I installed the map pack. Knowing me, i probably just unticked something or simular, but it's a real bummer.
Have you heard of this happening please?
