If the EQ2MAP updater is properly pointing to the launchpad you will log in normally. If you have it pointed to everquest2.exe twice under options then it's trying to log in via the game client itself. Go to options, and under the second text area make sure it's pointed to EQ2.exe (if you use the old SF-styled launcher) or Launchpad.exe or Launcher.exe (if you use the newer DoV styled full or streaming launchers). If it's not, click browse and locate the patcher you use.
In either case, the program has nothing to do with any login issues in-game.
