Error Reading EQ2.ini

I already know why I have the error. I made EQ2.ini read only. I got sick of (what I thought at the time) ThorUI resetting my EQ2.ini file every time it updated. Why did I get tired? I added the "cl_movie_enabled 0" line to kill the video and something kept wiping out that line every time it updated.

I was surprised to learn it wasn't ThorUI but EQ2MAP. I don't care too much about the error. It's that now every time I launch EQ2MAP it downloads the entire files over again. POI's and zones.

Is there any way to fix EQ2MAP from re-writing my EQ2.ini file every time the updater is launched? Or finding a way to have EQ2MAP download the files just once? Or perhaps another solution? (Removing the read - only tag from the EQ2.ini file is not an option.)

The EQ2Map auto-updater doesn't write to eq2.ini (at least not on my system). On the other hand, when I tried ThorUI a while ago, the ThorUI auto-updater did wipe my eq2.ini, which was pretty annoying.

EQ2Map only writes a eq2.ini if there isnt one. If you already have an eq2.ini eq2map will only read the ini and will download the maps to the directory thats in the ini file.

After uninstalling ThorUI and leaving EQ2MAP, I still had the same problem. It's re-writing the EQ2.ini file every time I launch the auto updater.

I made sure. I uninstalled the EQ2MAP, reinstalled ThorUI and changed the EQ2.ini. The change I made stayed behind.
