[added] Forsaken City
1 Attachment(s)
I've gathered the data for a map of the Forsaken City, new contested dungeon in the adventure pack. This zone has several overlapping floors which I'm working on seperating out into layers to create a usable map, but in the meantime I am posting the log file here.

This might help in figuring out some of the map splitting for this zone

maps for this zone
Seeing as nothing has been said for this zone on a while I have taken the locs and created some basic maps so far. Currently testing the alignment and vertical transitions.
However, I have 2 probs, one is I my dds support seems to be limited and I cant get the file size below a meg without losing a lot of quality and the reveal area seems to be so tiny it is non existant. Wondering if these 2 problems might be linked. |
Not sure what you mean. What program are you using to edit your maps? (Besides Inkscape)
|
GIMP, the dds plugin support is limited and using any sort of compression (DXT1 - 5) makes the resulting picture black. I found a utility though that converts other formats to dds and I can get 340Kb size files now at DXT3.
The real problem is that normally when you are in a zone for the first time, the circle that uncovers the black fog on a map is quite a number of meters wide. Of course, the larger the zone that the map represents the smaller the circle of black that is revealed around where you are. Forsaken city is not that large so the amount of map around you that should be revealed should be fairly large, however when I am running around the zone testing vertical transitions and horizontal alignment (I manually inserted the maps and zonerect into eq2map) the reveal is less than a coridor wide. Was wondering if this is a setting that can be changed or if it is something that soe sets for a zone or if there is actually a problem with the way I have done it. |
The Fog of War is all server side, so it's SOE. They determine how much gets revealed... like in some zones when you first enter an area, the entire area is revealed to you (PoF has some areas like that I believe).

What GIMP DDS plugin are you using? I've used the one here
http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=4816 and it seems to work fine. I used it to make the world map overlay DXT3s. Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere |
