[MAP] Solusek's Eye - 5th Floor

2 Attachment(s)
Zone Name: solusekseye

Notes:
Thanks to Caoimhin for the /locs.
Quick and easy!

Code:

<ImageStyle Name="solusekseye_4" zonerect="-165, -340, 322, 225" heightmax="-350">
<ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/maps/map_solusekseye_4.dds" SourceRect="0,0,436,506"/>
</ImageStyle>

This is the 5th floor, but the file ends _4

taco-man 08-21-2005 04:46 PM

is this maybe the fifth floor? the fourth is already on the site and looks totally different

It is the 5th floor, but since numbering starts at 0, it's labeled 4 . . . Kinda confusing.

Interestingly, there was already an entry for the fifth floor, solusekseye_4, in the core_mapstyles.xml, but there was no map that matched it. The heightmax was correct, but I updated the ZoneRect to match my map.

Will the zonerect max height of -350 work, I noticed when I was down there that the current lvl 4 map listed as solsekseye_3 (cause lvl 1 starts as _0) would pop in and out while I was logging the new areas, the new lvl 5 area at one point comes up as high as -336 I thought, just after the first room, the round area.

Map looks great by the way. I wish I had some artistic talent.

I also posted a few days ago that the existing lvl 4 map was stretched east and west, it's zonerect needs some adjustment, should have a left edge value of -85 instead of -160

The dds map image names need to be internalname_0 internalname_1 internalname_2 etc in a multimap enviroment for some of the automation on the webpage to work right. Its also the system SOE uses.

Are we un-confused yet? This is Level 5, internal zone name ending _4

When does it go live?

taco-man 08-22-2005 06:11 PM

yes we are unconfused now, the thread title just confused me but i understand now.
it goes live right now :)

Looks like this map was added by taco-man. saw the code in the core xml and the patcher downloaded the image.

im sneaky like that...you have to watch out for me adding maps when you least expect it :p

Problem with POI on this map

The map looks great and it scales correctly, my character icon is always represented at the correct location. However I submited 5 or 6 POI's for this level and it is placing them at the wrong points on the map, basically they are off as if they are too far from the center of the map. I have double checked my recorded locations and that they are entered correctly.

Not sure what is causing it, they show up on the web site incorrectly as well when you are posting them, thought it might just be a problem with the web rendering of them, so I posted them all anyway, but the same thing happens on the map itself.

The zonerect numbers being off would cause this. Nothing you can fix at the moment but thanks for the heads up.

Dolby 08-25-2005 03:58 PM

found the problem with the zonerect on the webpage I think. All the POI's look like their in the right place now. It wont be until late tonight this gets fixed on the patcher.

That's really odd -
I ran with the posted Zonerect info last night when I was testing my other maps and it looked right to me. At least, my character was in the correct location.

What was the actual issue with the icons?

Some reason there was a zonerect that didnt even closely match the one you have above... I think it got changed when you released 6,7,8 maps. Not sure how it got changed to such a wrong number though.

caoimhin 08-25-2005 06:44 PM

It was strange, cause I would have thought with an incorrect zonerect that my position shown on the map would have been incorrect as well, but my arrow was centered properly in corridors and positioned correctly in the rooms. Just the POI were off.

SaintPeter 08-25-2005 08:08 PM

One thing that I noticed is when I originally started editing the core_styles.xml, there was already an entry for _4, with a Zonerect, etc. I suspect that was kept for some reason, rather than being updated to the new one.

Anyway, should be good now and alls well that ends well :)
