Been getting this since day one. Any ideas? Ive checked the FAQ etc but found nothing with solves this problem.

.NET 1.1 is installed. Using fetish's UI. Im trying to update because half the zones are just blank.

Hmm, try pointing your browser to:

http://maps.eq2interface.com/POI_fil...afile_list.xml

and see if you get a 404 error, if you do then there is something blocking the site. If you can see the XML file above then there is something stopping the EQ2 updater from seeing it. Are you using a firewall?

Kale27 07-19-2005 11:45 PM

I can see the XML. I am using your average linksys firewall nothing fancy so to speak. Is there anyway to get the updates manually?

Ruddles 07-20-2005 03:25 AM

http://maps.eq2interface.com/index.php?ID=download

Under that auto-updater is a manual update. Just download the zip file and extract it to your custom UI folder.

As for that 404 error, i'm not sure what to suggest. If you can view the XML in internet explorer then you should be able to view it in the auto-updater. I'll have a think and maybe taco-man has a suggestion.

do you have a software firewall (one where you give permission to programs to access the internet). if you do, the updater must be allowed to access the internet.

Only software firewall is xp's firewall and I killed that eons ago. Ill try to disable every service and see if i can come up with my own solution.

same here

I disabled both firewalls (generic WIN XP and Kerio), but still get the same error code:

Error Getting File List: System
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus()
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetNonFileStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials)
at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials)
at System.Xml.XmlUrlResolver.GetEntity(Uri absoluteUri, String role, Type ofObjectToReturn)
at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.CreateScanner()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Init()
at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read()
at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent()
at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving)
at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName)
at WindowsApplication7.Form1.DownloadExtras()Der Remoteserver hat einen Fehler zurückgegeben: (403) Unzulässig.

I can see the files, if I follow the above link.

I will try to update manually now.

Just to be sure:

As a simple user I thought, I download the files, install them in my EQ2-directory and run them. Is this correct?

If no: Do I have to change anything manually, before running it and having the maps in game?

Thanks in advance! :)

same problem

Code:

Error Getting File List: System
  at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus()
  at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
  at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
  at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetNonFileStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials)
  at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials)
  at System.Xml.XmlUrlResolver.GetEntity(Uri absoluteUri, String role, Type ofObjectToReturn)
  at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.CreateScanner()
  at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Init()
  at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read()
  at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent()
  at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving)
  at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName)
  at WindowsApplication7.Form1.DownloadExtras()The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved.

i've done the manual update, and i can see the XML page no problem.

first time getting this error, but yesterday, after running a spybot 1.4 scan, i used the map updater and it took exactly five minutes to update - then it started updating the map/zone files.

not sure if spybot was the culprit, but thats the only thing i did differently from the time before.

just gonna do a clean uninstall then reinstall and see if it works, even though i've had clients at work get similar xml errors and a XML parser (4.0 for them) reinstall worked. just a thought.

what browser are you using? make sure you can see that file in internet explorer.

Mindparadox 08-10-2005 04:17 PM

well :nana: , seems there is no need to troubleshoot this. a reboot did not work, but uninstall/reinstall of the map updater did work.

as for xml parser, that would have been my next guess. :P
