eq2_uisettings.ini file
Would love to see the "servername_charactername_eq2_uisettings.ini" file reconfigured so we could edit it directly...
If this changed we could setup complete installers for users so they wouldn't have to manually copy and paste these... This would also allow us to customize the file easier for different video resolutions. |
Maqus I beleave he is talking about having the install fine tune the UI settings as in set opacity, window colors and position. You could do all that if it was a standerd .ini/.txt file. You can not do this in eq2 uisetting file.
I would love for them to do it the way it was in eq1. You could go in there and fine tuen the positioning on windows down the the pixel. Not so in eq2. Make it so SOE :) |
You can view and edit the file in a Hex editor.... But its the same catch you gotta know the value you is looking for in order to change it /shrug , So its not realy encoded so to speak

Free text/ASCII coding... If they removed whatever weird format they are currently using and changed it to free text/ASCII coding we could do so much more. Not to mention all the issues with "corrupt eq2_uisettings.ini" files would be a thing of the past... |
I just wish they would make it like EQ1's. So I can open up a text editor and place windows persicely where I want them like;
[effects window] locx 654 locy 657 opacity .573 color ff13ca witdh 24 hieght 53 ect.. And yes this would do away with the way EQ2 is corrupting the uisettings files. And no you CAN NOT place windows persicely as it is now with out a hex editor and know the exact location of the numbers you are wanting to change. |
