READ FIRST: Common Problems (and solutions)

Below is a common list of problems and solutions for them, if your problem is not in this thread i may have missed it, try using the search feature of this forum.
  1. Problem:
    1. Your maps do not look different after installing EQ2MAP. and/or
    2. EQ2 does not start automatically.

    Solution:
Start the updater, click on the Options button and change your Everquest 2 path. You do that by clicking the topmost "Browse" button. Now navigate to the Everquest 2 folder you are currently starting the game in. Keep in mind that many people have more than one EQ2 installation without knowing it. This is caused by SOE's Station Launcher or Launchpad which you use to update the game. If you are using the OLD launchpad you can get your correct path by right clicking the icon you use to start the game, selecting properties and checking the path that is configured there. If you are using the station launcher you can start it, go to options, preferences, select your Everquest II installation and click on "Change Install Location". Do not change anything, just note down the path that it opens up in.
  2. Problem:
Maps are black but the POIs are visible

    Solution:
This issue should only occur if you have used a previously faulty uisettings file from the Fetish UI. To fix this, either delete your <Server>_<Character>_eq2_uisettings.xml file and start over with the updated default settings file from Fetish, or open the file in a text editor and find and delete everything from <Window Name="Map2_clone_2" up to and including the next occurance of </Window>.
  3. Problem:
You anti-virus thinks the installer is a virus/trojan

    Solution:
Do not panic, it is a FALSE POSITIVE, meaning the anti-virus thinks it is a virus, but it really is not. Please report the false positive to your anti-virus company so they can fix it.
  4. Problem:
I have downloaded the EQ2map updater and installed it. But when I try to run it I get the following Error Message "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135). I uninstalled it and downloaded it again. It still does the same thing.

    Solution:
You must have The Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or greater for this program to run
The Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 can be downloaded either from this direct download link or if you prefer you can get it from windows update.
  5. Problem:
    Error Getting File List: System

    at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName)
at WindowsApplication7.Form1.DownloadExtras()The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

    Solution:
The updater cant connect to the internet, you must allow the updater to connect to the internet. The most common problem is a firewall that is not set up properly.
