Help w/Auto-updater

Hello..ok PLEASE can someone point me in the right direction? Dumbed down ?

I tried installing the new Auto updater ,tried putting the Exe file in many different directories with NO success. Please post Where the exe file goes and What other files I need to d/l and where They go . I previously had the eq2 maps from here and installed w/ no problem . This ,however, i cannot seem to figure out.

Downloaded :EQ2MAP_Update.zip
map_rev_5_8.zip
ger_zone.zip
Tried so many things that now my setup is totally botched , Everything was in a directory: UI
--Default
--newui (my custom folder for all the pices I use)
--Images
--eq2map
--icons

Can someone steer me straight ,please? thank you

eq2map and Images need to be subfolders of your "newui" folder. Icons needs to be a subfolder of Images.

Your folders should looks like this:
EverQuest II
--UI
----Default
----newui
------eq2map
------images
--------icons
--------maps

eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml should be in the folder newui
All the other EQ2MAP XML files should be in the folder eq2map
The auto-updater should be inside the folder newui and run from there

The application failed to initialize properly (0cx0000135) Click ok to terminate the application.

Maybe you need a newer version of .NET? Check the Windows Update website and make sure your .NET Framework is up to date.

Quib, Taco-Man,

What version of the Net framework is the correct version?
.net Framework 1.0
.net Framework 1.1
.net Framework 2.0 (NOTE Currently in Beta Release [Beta 1])

Thanks....

PPS.... I'm using the .net Framework 2.0 Beta on my EQ2 system and the updater is working fine.

I'd recommend using .NET 2.0 beta. There is a thread about this, and I am convinced that using .NET 1.1 causes memory leak issues in EQ2. So, for that reason alone, I'd say use 2.0

Quib 02-28-2005 05:27 PM

I have .NET 2.0 on all of my computers and the patcher works. However, this is all the details I can provide. taco-man may know more about that particular error message but he likely won't be able to help with it until later this week.

It should work with 1.1 and greater for sure.
If you need the 1.1 .net framework click to
download .net framework 1.1

Thanks Taco-Man, Awesome Job...

You can download the 1.1 Update if you don't already have it from the Windows Update Site.

If you want to try the .net 2.0 framework, it's not available via Windows Update (atleast I don't think it is available from Windows Update).

You can download the Beta for the Microsoft .net framework 2.0 Beta from here...

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Remember it's Beta Software from Microsoft so use it at your own risk.

Get 2.0, as it does fix the memory leak for eq2, and other progs. Load times are like nothing once you upgrade.
