Error updating EQ2 maps

I get this error gathering latest version info every time I run EQ2 maps. Up until a week ago everything was running fine. Has anyone else encountered this error and know a fix for it?

If you get this error it most likely can't connect to the site.
Check your firewall.

Firewall is not the problem even with it turned off, I get the same error message.

Then i have no clue what it could be.
You can try Landiins updater instead.

could it be that I am running xp64, because this error just started recently

I run xp64 on 3 different pc's running eq2 and all associated updaters. So, its not something related to the OS directly.

ok so now I am really perplexed because I am having the same problem with ACT as EQ2 maps, so I uninstalled both, reinstalled ACT alone and it worked fine, as soon as I reinstalled EQ2 maps the problem reappeared.

I can't see how EQ2MAP Updater could affect ACT, the only thing they have in common is that they use .NET 2.0

You could try to reinstall .NET.

Or read the thread just below this one with exactly the same issue. The solution was to go to windows update and install the .NET service pack.
