EQ2MAP not finding eq2.exe

Hello all,

Recently started playing again and installed EQ2 using the streaming feature. I am attempting to install using Landiin's EQ2MAP Updater and having troubles getting the installer to recognize my eq2.exe file. First I attempted the obvious dragging and dropping the shortcut, this produced nothing. Then I managed to find the EQ2.exe file (stuffed away in the flipping AppData file instead of program files like I initially thought :o ) but when I browse to it using the installer it doesnt see it in the "EverQuest 2 Streaming" file. The shortcut is clearly linked to this .exe and I can see it when I view the folder, but the installer can't. Is this a common problem since the latest update? As far as I can find im using the most up to date installer. Anywho I'm stumped, please help!

Thanks!
Matt

The streaming patcher does not have an eq2.exe -- that file was part of the old patching system. Any references to eq2.exe should be replaced with Launcher.exe for the streaming patcher.

attempted to use the installer again, using both methods (drag and drop/browse) to make it use the launcher.exe file and no luck on that front either. As a matter of fact, in browse mode it fails to recognize any files in the EverQuest 2 Streaming folder. Thinking of Reinstalling EQ 2? Worth a shot anyways. Also cannot get my customUI to work either (drumUI) using the tried and true forum methods, so perhaps something is wrong with my install.

I had no problem at all using the official EQ2MAP Auto Updater with the streaming updater (I don't normally use it, but I installed it just to make sure the EQ2MAP updater works ok). You set the Everquest2.exe to the one in the Streaming updater folder, and you use the options button to set the "Autolaunch EQ2" executable to Launcher.exe.

Not sure why your other UI install is not working properly. All you should have to do is extract the eq2.ini to your /EverQuest II Streaming/ folder and then the DrumsUI folder to /EverQuest II Streaming/UI/. Do that first, then run the EQ2 Auto Updater and it should update EQ2MAP over your DrumsUI installation.

If you use an updater which looks for eq2.exe (or any other file) which does not exist anymore with this new updater you can simply create an empty file with that name in the eq2 folder (the one which holds everquest2.exe).

I re-downloaded the auto updater from the link you provided and it works great now, not quite sure why the last one wasnt, maybe the file was bad. As a side note I figured out the UI thing, the actual UI file (drumsUI) comes inside another file named UI, which I renamed customUI. So it wasnt pathing right, at any rate, everything is working great, thanks for the help :)

lol be quiet. I've always tried to remember to turn the signature off when posting in threads about other projects than the one the sig is about or when posting in my "function" as s-mod. :)
