Tooltip fix
 

Can someone please tell me what code needs to be added to the custom ui parts to enable the new tooltip funtion in todays patch. I am not knowledgable enough to create my own mods but understand how to edit them.
I have read that a new font was added and that is what is causing the problem. Supposed fix was to add a line to the eq2ui_font.xml file but I didnt already have that file - so i copied the default one into my directory but no fix. I assume that a line of code needs to be added to all tooltip ui parts ie - hotbar, inventory, bank, market, etc.
Its driving me crazy to play with the default ui - and i am too impatient to wait for all the devs for each ui part I am using to fix them themselves. Somone please help.

This is what you need to do if using a UI.find the following files and type the following to them: ".xml.<UI name>

file names to rewrite:

eq2ui_mainhud_persona
eq2ui_mainhud_examine
eq2_maindus_skill

ex:
eq2ui_mainhud_persona.xml.fetish

This will make the UI files inexcessable and will run EQ2's default UI windows.

Mind you when updates come out you will need to re-write,or an easier way would be to overwrite the files with the new ones.

This may help you (link). I've only tried it with the 3/4 hotbar buttons, though.

My problem was that I wasn't getting any tooltips on any windows.
I was using the Depechenode examine window mod so I just renamed the eq2ui_examine.xml and player_bg1.dds files with a bogus extension and tooltips show on all windows now.

This is due the EQ2UI.fonts.xml in your custom directory not having the line:

<TextStyle Algorithm="Simple" FontName="Zapf Calligraphic 801 Bold BT" Language="english" Name="Font_Tooltip" PointSize="15" PrivateFontPath="UI/Fonts/zcal801b.TTF" UseCachedFont="true"/>

Add this to the file and save, then my bags work.

HOw the heck do I add that line in there? Where do I put it. I really love the UI mods but this no tooltip things is driving me crazy!

I added that line to the file, and your mod does work now, but I get no "hovering tooltip" information. Is that normal, and can it be fixed?

Somebody told me my UI font file was correct and so the only other thing it could be are my examine windows. I downloaded your patch but that still didnt change anything. I had to delete your examine file to get the origonal examine windows for my hover tooltips to work.

I hope you figure this out, I really want some kind of slim examine windows.

Basicly the new tool tip is part of the eq2_examine.xml file its the last page in that file now .... so even if you sort the fonts out untill you either add the tool tip page into that file or just delete it then you will get like a FUBAR window m8...

Also may I add that please and thank you go's along way to getting help! none of us get paid for doing this it is only for our love of modding and our kind nature to help others (I would say that all is in agreement with that statement lol)

Oops, I'm terribley sorry if I sounded ungrateful. I'm a huge newb to all of this, including forums like these. I just didn't want to seem whiney, but I do love all these mods. I can't live without them, whenever I see my boyfriend playing I get so frustrated with his huge windows and default UI..

I love you, modders, you are all life savers and I swear I get so frustrated when I have to look at the default UI.

So sorry if I sounded not very nice.. I'm a newb, forgive me, I love mods too much.

The patch file is 3.0.LU13. It is REUPLOADED and awaiting approval. There WAS a mistagged item in the UI script and is corrected now.

Download the FIXED patch 3.0.LU13 here:

Extract both .xml files from the dnadvexaminewfontLU13.zip into your custom mod directory. ie: drive:\everquest2\ui\CUSTOMMODDIRECTORY

overwrite any that are in there if you were already using MY examine windows pre LU13.

Extract the .dds the images folder within that custom directory.

The files included are:

eq2ui_examine.xml (this includes the TOOLTIP page that was added LU13)
eq2ui_fonts.xml (this includes the ACTUAL tooltip FONT that is NEEDED Lu13)
player_bg1.dds (my background I use, goes in the custommod\images folder)

Restart eq2 and hopefully it will work for you.

I reuploaded the PATCH files again. Please retry the download 3.0.LU13

There may have been a mistagged file in the UI after further investigation. It "SHOULD" work as described now.

Just DLed it, will check it out. I modded my fonts file, so just installed the examine window. Already had your Background installed... will post here ASAP

Wahooo! It works, I now have full examine functionality. The hovering tooltip now works! Thanks deary! :nana:
