Guild Wars style chat

I am thinking about making something like the Guild Wars chat window. Anyone know if there are commands to change the default channel you are speaking to?

there is a bubble on the original EQ chat windows. It's whit by default "say" if you click the bubble you can select a differnt default channel for that input line.
In the original eq2 skin it's to the left of where you're typed text appears.

I use 4 chat windows. The window i have set as "Always chat here" is set to group chat.

I have a seperate window for guild chat. that one is set to automatically chat in guild speak (/gu) when ever i write in that box.

I beleive that's the question you where asking, i've never played GW so i'm not sure if it's the same thing

Looks pretty good so far :)

What exactly are you hoping to acheive with this GW style? Is it just the looks? Because the GW chat system is one of the major turn offs of the game IMO. I wouldn't want to echo its functionality (or lack thereof) in any game.

Also the chat tabs in EQ2 have a different purpose then the tabs of GW. In GW you click the tab to talk in that "channel", but nothing is filtered out unless you uncheck the boxes at the top of the chat window, and there is no separating chat in GW with EQ2 style tabbing either.

You wanna expand on your idea a little bit more?

Unfortunately, it is going to end up more like EQ2 than Guild Wars due to technical limitations. However the goal is to make it as close to Guild Wars as possible. I do not dislike their chat as much as you do.

you go with what you like hire.... even if one person does not like it, others will. and in the end you are happy because you are going with what you like.

I still think it looks pretty good ;)
