Journal Windows

When I open the main Journal window it closes the small journal window that is supposed to remain open. Anyone else have this happen, if not any suggestions?

That's an odd one indeed. :)

Try the following:
1.) Delete the thorui folder within the EverQuest II\UI folder then re-launch the ThorUI AU and let it pull everything down fresh.
2.) Delete your characters "window placments file" in the EverQuest II directory and use one that I provide. (You can move windows around afterwards by unlocking all windows using ALT-O)
The window placements file should look something like servername_charactername_eq2_uisettings.ini

Some say I am an odd one!

am now using your windows placements and I got the quickchange to work also, but little journal window still disappears when I bring up main journal. That is something I can live with though. Just have to push a button to bring it back up when I close the other. I shut off the update if new, to enable the quick change to work, so if you want to update later, do you check it again and then go in and edit the names and servers and then uncheck again? Thanks!

The "Do not update if local file is newer" only helps if you have a modified or external mod that you are using. So unless you've changed one of mine or are using another authors mod, it will pull the update down automatically.

As long as you haven't changed the file or used another authors mod it "should" update the files automatically.

Do me a favor and go into the thorui folder and delete any xml files that have the word "journal" in them.
Once that's done go into the features list in the ThorUI AU and make sure you have all the Journal features selected then let it update/pull allt he files down.

same thing

still does the same. I would just forget about it. Maybe will right itself one of these days. Don't spend anymore time on it. I"m sure you have way too much more to do on more important things. The reason I set the do not update if newer is because you recommended it when changing the server and character name file when setting up the quick log. Or did I misunderstand that. Heavens I don't think I have ever done that before! <grins>

hehe
"Do not update" doesn't effect the window placements files for your characters.

If you're not modifying or using anyone elses mod its best to leave it unchecked.

Wasn't actually referring to windows placement in reference to the not updating. The not updating was about the quick log for shutdown, I see that allowing update does reload the default character and server. Oh well, think I will leave it that way and just /camp name instead so that I get the updates. Thanks again from a first time poster and according to some more than a "little bit" odd.

oh duh me :o

Yeah you did right for the shutdown window.
I don't foresee any updates for it anytime soon.

Just know if you ever have any trouble to delete the thorui folder and let it pull everything down fresh.

That journal window issue will continue to haunt me... :p

Duh!

Well I stumbled on to the reason for the journal help window closing when opening the journal. Somehow I had apparently unchecked the box at the bottom of the journal page for the help window, thus causing the problem. At least it was an easy fix. :(
Thanks for the help and keep up the good work. ;)
