instant teleport

Hi,

Can we get the new upcoming "instant teleport button" added on map? I can get it on the default (when I enter game without using eq2maps program) but not when I use this program.. Not sure why that is, but it is...

Thanks
Eshaac

Do you have a screen shot of the button ??

Is it on Testserver only?

EQ2 Maps NOT Compatible with new Teleport Map Default

I got back on Test Server this afternoon after being away a couple hours - and apparently an update occurred in my absence. My game was logged out (I left my game up when I ran off to the doctor.) NOW I'm getting an error message stating that my Map UI page 1 is incompatible with the game default map (and EQ2 Map clearly is NOT working now).

I was forced to reload the default map (which has that Instant Teleport Button on the top right corner) - by command /loadui_default.... and I'm back to the very plain vanilla game map.

I hope you folks can develop a patch to correct for this so I can get my EQ2 Maps to run again! Soon!

I don't care whether the Instant Teleport button works or not! Frankly, I have NO intention of paying for teleports using my map. This is really the "outside of enough" where Station Cash manipulation is concerned. I can't afford to be paying for every hop I make around in Norrath. I'm comfortable with using the bells, the world globes, the guild hall transport system, and the flying carpets just fine! Please patch EQ2 Maps so they work in the game again .... I'm on the Test Server with this, and thank God it's not gone live yet. You have a bit of time to fix this. I sure hope you can!

Instant Teleport Button - A Pay as You Go Feature

To answer your question directly (I'm a regular player on the Public Test Server) yes, it is ONLY on the Test Server for now (maybe it's on the Beta Server as well, I don't know). Sony hasn't gone "Live" with it yet.

I don't have a screen shot for you, but what it looks like is a little "double gold triangle with wings" - very similar to the Ikon now used in the Station Cash bar and on the Spell Upgrade Window to signifiy that you can BUY the feature by clicking the button. At the moment that button isn't connected to the Station Cash feature - Test players aren't yet paying for the use of the Instant Teleport Feature. But they will be when it goes live.

Assuming some people don't care if they have to pay to hop around Norrath every time they click that button (it could get right pricey after a week). But now EQ2 Maps isn't working on the Public Test Server, because they've fully implemented this feature on the regular map. We need a fix fast.

Danged if I want to use the cheesy game maps without decent poi's, no /waypoint ribbons, and then have to pay everytime I go somewhere! HELP!:mad:

Ok, as i don't have access to testserver i can't have a look at eq2ui_mainhud_map2.xml until it goes live.

Here is the default file from the Testserver default location. The code is in the 3rd "page" coding section.

Code:

<Page BackgroundColor="#201020" BackgroundOpacity="1.000" Location="2,25" Name="Controls" PackSize="a" ScrollExtent="1021,50" Size="1021,50" Visible="false">
                <Button Location="950,6" Name="SCPonTButton" PackLocation="right,top" OnPress="smp pon pon_teleport" RStyleDefault="sc_pont" ScrollExtent="60,40" Size="60,40" Style="/ButtonStyles.sc_pont" Tooltip=":f:Quick Access Teleport"/>

Ok looks a bit better, replace file and make it read only for now.
Report if it works.

It might have been changes to window_elements_specific.dds to.
Might explain why it still don't looks good.

Received an error. not compatible with current client..

Hold it, let me investigate further as there was an update to the test server this morning and has some how disabled modded eq2ui_mainhud_map2.xml file to where ingame map does not work at all. You get the error I have attached to this post.

Update.. I'm not finding anything that was updated.. nothing showing in logs for today's update. Only thing I've found different using notepad ++/compare are the files default map2.xml and the one in custom folder.

jnils 05-25-2013 07:51 AM

As you say, i can't find anything either.

The only diffrence from live is the button line, unless there has been some changes that i have missed before.

Does the live map2.xml file without the button line produce the same error on test?

EQ2 Maps on Live Servers - Still running fine

Because this new feature is only running on the Test Servers, the EQ2 Maps are not affected yet on the Live Servers (thank heavens). However, if they decide to implement this new "pay as you go" feature on the default maps in the Live Server (I'd assume sooner rather than later) we won't be able to use our EQ2 Maps there (a thought which greatly disturbs me).

Wish I could be of more help to you, but I think Eshaac is doing a great job there! Thank heavens for that! :nana:

Continuing problem with EQ2 Maps on Test Servers

I logged into the game this morning on the Public Test Server, as I usually do, and got that "Fail Notice - please /loadui_default" warning again. So the problem still persists ... also, whatever has changed in the default map coding also causes my game to crash when I try to use the guild hall transporter - so there is a problem with the default ui map as well.

I'm guessing that the coding is trying to force all travel choices to be made through the map Instant Access feature - ignoring other modes of transport in game. I'm sure that's a glitch in the programming, not intended to make us all use Instant Access on the Map (at a price in real dollars, of course), if we prefer not. But for now, it's a big annoyance.

I'm hoping they will decide against implementing this feature in the Live Servers. Not all "ideas" are "good ideas".. and they DO sometimes stop feature changes before they go "live". This is one that I think needs to go 'bye-bye' !!!

One thing I've noticed recently is that the client code forces structure more than it traditionally has. Is it possible that the problem is the button not being in the Controls page where the client expects it to be?

jnils 05-25-2013 03:24 PM

Could be so, you could try to move it before <Composite to test if it works.

tknarr 05-25-2013 09:57 PM

I do find one other change in the latest test server version of eq2ui_mainhud_map2.xml. On the very first Page element, the one named "Map2", the version attribute changed from "1.2" to "2.0". That change happened sometime after the 16th.

lordebon 05-25-2013 11:14 PM

The version number being less than live is what will cause the "out of date" message. That field is always checked, if its found to be < what is set as live the game ignores the window entirely (it assumes it hasn't been updated).

jnils 05-26-2013 03:49 AM

Ah , that change was not in the file from above from 24th.

Could you change map2.xml and report back if it works now ?

Ok, changed the 1.2 to 2.0 and maps are back up and running.

Also, have added the "instant teleport button" coding to the eq2ui_mainhud_map2.xml file. There is no button showing, however if you hover over the area you get the option to use this function. There seems to be "no" button icon at this moment in the default xml file either.

jnils 05-27-2013 10:21 AM

The changes are now live, ill hope it looks ok , can't realy test untill it goes live.

Eshaac 05-27-2013 04:10 PM

yep, everything is working fine, even though there is still no button icon for the instant travel, the function is there at the area I circled when you hover your mouse over it...

jnils 05-27-2013 11:49 PM

The button should be to the right of the report button.
On live servers you should not see anything yet.
Are you sure all eq2map files are up to date ?

Yep all up to date.

Button Icon not there. I've tested this on both Beta/TestCopy and Test servers using default maps and there is no button icon. You can hover your mouse over the area where the button should be and get the tool tip "instant teleport ????" and click that area with the ability to use that function, but there is no button icon. It is something on their end.

They must have changed the buttonstyles or image file.
Ill have a look when it goes live.

It's changes to eq2ui_ButtonStyles.xml related to "sc_pont". I've got the diffs between live and test if you want them. They also require the changes to window_elements_specific.dds (changes to the size and appearance of the PoN button images, they're a bit smaller now, nothing else in the file changed).
