Dirty install instructions:

Turn off the game (i know its hard, but you'll get to log back on again soon, i promise)

Open up "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II Beta\UI" and make a backup copy of your default folder.

paste eq2ui_mainhud_player.xml into the default folder

Click on Everquest2.exe in the eq2beta directory (this bypasses the launcher)

Edit: logging in with Everquest2.exe can be a pain in the butt sometimes. if it asks you to type your character name just remember it's case sensitive, so capitalise the first letter of your name.

Good job Insomniac!

You are the first person to release a interface mod for EQII!

that would be because they have not fully implemented the customization feature. (IE why your having to dodge the patcher to get any of it to work.)

We have been told "soon" But who knows.. At this point they still have a couple of windows to make (pet command window for example)

ps. tried the XP and HP mods.. they worked great.. can't wait till I can keep them all the time!

Impressive work! sounds like there's allot more work to customization this time around? Hopefully that means there is allot more we can do with it as well?

I did some work with modding it a week or so ago but gave up on it due to stuff not working yet. For instance, if you load a skin while the game is running, your player window stops showing you and just shows some placeholder. Since you can't save your UI choice (which one to load on startup) yet, this means the only option is to edit the default one each time you run the patcher.

Anyway, my primary purpose was to change the chat font to Verdana because using a serif font was the stupidest thing they've done to date. In order for it to not be a series of unreadable blobs, you have to have it so large that the amount of text you can keep in a reasonable sized window is pointless. And even with 3 windows seperating stuff out and lots of text just turned off, there's still so much spam that anything that happened 10 lines ago is lost to the void so the more lines you can get per window and still be readable, the better.

Changing the chat font, btw, was super simple. It's just not worth it having to manually patch it in constantly.

It'll be the first thing I mod when the UI mod functionality is working right.
