Any interest in a UI Modding panel at Fan Faire, June 2-4 2009?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you were planning on attending Fan Faire, and if so would anyone be interested in a panel about UI modding? There's no guarantee that there would be enough interest to do this, but I thought I'd ask. There is a pretty good sized community here on EQ2 Interface and I'm sure it would be a lot of fun to hang out at a panel and talk about modding.

It really comes down to how many of you would actually attend Fan Faire and whether or not we'd have enough people to make this panel worth while.

Let me know what you think.

I have never been to Fan Faire and I do not plan on going to the upcoming one.

Dunno why. This is the only SoE game I play.

I'd totally be there if I could, but it's too far a trip for me.

dragowulf 04-17-2009 06:10 PM

Well I'm only like a few hours from Vegas (driving distance), but I don't really feel like paying for a hotel and stuff. And there's no way I'm going to drive there and back each night.

I guess I'm really cheap. But I've never been there...maybe I should go =/

Sounds like fun, but it's a bit far from Europe, so no. :)

Every year I'm like, "Hey, I should go to Fan Faire. It'd be fun." and then every year I don't.

If I were there I'd totally head over to a modding panel. Or just hang out and drink myself silly with ya.

When is Fan Faire anyhow? LOL

SOE-Rothgar 04-17-2009 06:33 PM

Fan Faire is June 2-4 and it'll be at Bally's.

Its so much fun. Any of you who have thought about coming but haven't, you should really come check it out some time. Even if the only game you play is EQII, there are tons of things to do and panels to go to. SOE really throws a great party and there are all kinds of events to go to throughout the weekend. Last year we rented out the entire sports place at the end of the strip. It was open bar, dancing and free use of all the facilities which included wall climbing, batting cages, those super-fast go karts and all sorts of stuff. That was just on Friday Night. There's also the big dinner on Saturday night.

Its a great opportunity to meet other members of the community and friends that you game with. I also really enjoy it because it gives me a lot of time to hang out with players and hear their ideas and opinions about the game.

I will be 18 next week, but I'm not old enough to drink.

Have to be 21 or older to attend?

I don't think there is an age limit on attending the conference. When there are parties that include alcohol they are checking ID's and giving out wristbands.

/Frown... talk about possibly the worst possible date. I have a new clinical system going live at my hospital on June 3, and I expect it'll take me at least a month to convince them that the reason it runs like crap is because the app is poorly written and not because there's anything wrong with my network.

Tell them to postpone Fan Faire.

Check those dates

Rothgar may what to verify those dates, because they're about 3 weeks off from the dates that are published on the Fan Faire website. The website shows it as June 25th through 28th.

I'm about 75% sure I'll be at fan faire this year, and I'd love to have a UI modding panel. Heck even if it was just a few folks attending in a smaller room, it'd still be great.

Maybe then I can find out who does the character select screen (Unless it's you, Rothgar?) and convice them to stop being silly about classes (and put them back on their two-subclasses-per-class format). ;)

Well we can all send you our wish lists so you can request it from Rothgar personally.

Jk..but seriously...

Since Rothgar knows our wish lists, one can only wonder what you mean by "requesting" it personally. The poor guy. :D

Well it would be much more hard to juggle around that character encoding problem with non-ASCII in the scripting engine if someone were to ask him in person.

gm9 04-18-2009 02:17 PM

I was joking, I thought about creative ways of "requesting" stuff in person, like making him drunk, taking pictures and blackmailing him, you know stuff like that which I do all the time. :p

As I said when I suggested this, I wont be able to attend this year's FF at Vegas, but if a modders panel were planed for next year, I'd try to be there ;)
