IN game browser

Asd soon as i click the Wiki or zam link like from journal to get a browser open i get a eq2 client has caused error and must close type message ...I crash :(

Help can any one tell me a patch i need thank you ???

tknarr 06-18-2012 12:45 AM

No patch as yet. SOE broke something in the browser component, because this crash is happening even under the default UI. There are... many issues currently with the Awesomium component, affecting the in-game browser, the help system and the launchpad.

any luck with in game browser ??

is this fixed yet with the profit ui ??

It isn't a problem with Profit UI. Sony broke their own browser.

It crashes the game whether you use the default UI or a custom UI.

See this thread on the SOE boards:

The default is completely broken. Use the link above to report your specific experiences.

Really? I used it to look up some quests and general page viewing and didn't have a issue with default browser but then I was using the default UI. That might of had something to do with but I can't think of a reason why it would. What page is it crashing on? If it happens when you just open it, what is your home page set to?

Therendil 06-25-2012 09:46 PM

Seems to vary by individual. For me, trying to open any page locks the client so hard I nearly have to restart to regain control. This is after the most recent patch. Prior to that, trying to open any page just crashed the client.

Starbreaker 06-25-2012 09:47 PM

It crashes 100% of the time when you click zam or the wiki links for the quest your searching.

Have any of you that is having issues deleted the mozilla directory and reran the patcher? If not try that and see if it helps any.

Also do any of you have chrome installed? If so it could be an extension that is causing the issue, just a guess through as I have never used awesomium in any application.

Therendil 06-26-2012 09:08 PM

I have not tried deleting anything an re-patching. I'm going to wait a bit for things to settle down. Even as I write this, I am picking up the Test patch with the new Qeynos, and I noticed updated browser files going by.

Landiin 06-27-2012 01:57 AM

Nice let me know if the issue is still there or not. I really don't want to install test again.

TalTal 06-27-2012 07:37 AM

My browser does not work on live. It does work on the current version of test.

Any new info being bandied about on how to get the browser to work?

No word from SOE so far. Rumor is that it's working on Test, I haven't experimented with it there yet.

offkilterkitty 06-30-2012 06:23 PM

Deleting the mozilla folder did not help.

My problem is that I accidentally opened the help window and it crashed me. For whatever reason the window is still open when I reload the game and try to get back in, so it never survives the load process.

How do I kill the help window on that toon if I cannot get in far enough for a viable window?

offkilterkitty 06-30-2012 07:11 PM

All right, this is what I did to fix it (Thank you Mrrshaw) - renamed the XML file, as she does not have an INI file. Also renamed the Cache folder then restarted the game.

I was able to log in on her and rechoose a UI.

SOE told me to rename the INI, when I said she did not have one, they sent it to T2...

In any case, I can log in on her now and will try not to touch the browser/help buttons.

I can't test the attached browser window because I get an instant crash opening it to any HTML page. What it's supposed to be is an alternate verison of the patched window that leaves the status bar permanently present at the bottom. If someone could check it, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'm going to have to track down the related files so I can patch just the browser window into Test and try it there (rumor has it that the browser in Test works for people who're seeing the crash in Live).

OK, checked things out over on Test. The browser isn't crashing there, and ProfitUI works (minus the new stuff, but at least it doesn't crash the client or make the UI unusable). I changed the browser window to leave the status bar always visible at the bottom. The contents disappear after loading's done, though, that seems to be hard-coded behavior. And it doesn't go into the refresh loop. I'm going to go with this when I'm doing the changes for the new UI stuff in the Qeynos revamp.

Starbreaker 07-03-2012 08:17 PM

Ok, i'm not the most computer savy.. Where and how do I put that xml?

tknarr 07-03-2012 08:18 PM

It gets dropped into the UI\ProfitUI folder under your game installation.
