More ProfitUI help

Ok, new pc, win 8...eq2 files are not in the program files.. but in games folder etc... but when I run the "ProfitUI updater" it says it cannot find the jnlp file... and so wont update... and yes I do have the up to date Java on pc etc.

Any hints/help appreciated.

(ps I also tried the zip file option to get all the files... but the updater still wont run to update the files)

Are you using Chrome? If so, try IE or Firefox. Chrome is known not to handle Java right. Also, do not download the .jnlp file and then open the downloaded copy. It has to be opened directly in the browser. When it first runs it'll create the link on the desktop to run it again (which is not a reference to the .jnlp file, it's a reference to the internally-cached copy in the JRE's application cache).

using IE... and I use the web browser with the page that has the "launch" button on it... and it just throws up a message of "unable to launch application" or "this page cant be displayed - Make sure the web address http://java.com&returnpage=http is correct.

I figure ill just give up and go back to default... I only used profit when I was raiding, but these days I dont raid anymore. Just would have been nice to keep it updated and running.

Thanks for the assist :)

Check your version of Java. There've been some big security problems lately, and the major browsers have been blocking vulnerable versions of the Java plug-in. As far as I know the only working version is the most current one, Java 7 update 17. Java 6 update 41 may work, but since it's known to be vulnerable it may also be blocked. The error you're getting looks like one that might occur if the Java plug-in isn't working correctly. I don't use IE, so I'm not really in a position to troubleshoot issues with it.
