Not seeing POIs in Sinking sands

Can't see the POIs in Sinking sands. I see them find on the website but not in-game.

Tried to delete all the maps directory and repatch. Didn't work.

Same here, its something that needs to be fixed on our end. Once I'm not as busy keeping the servers alive I'll look into it. :)

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a local problem. Releived to see it's not me.

givver 09-15-2005 09:54 AM

I am having the same problem

Xarshaz 09-15-2005 10:40 AM

I too am having the same problem and I'm wondering if the following is the reason:

In my UI\EQMap\images\maps folder the Sinking Sands map is filename:

map_exp01_sinking_sands

In my UI\EQmap\eq2map folder (the one with the POI's):

icons_exp01_rgn_sinking_sands

I'm wondering if this small difference in nomenclature is causing the problem.

In game, I see the main map fine, just no POIs.

Thank you.

The name of the .dds map file and the internal name of the zone need not match. You can see in the core_mapstyles.xml file that the image name is correctly indicated.

The problem is most likely with the icons_ file for the zone.

Visuo 09-15-2005 11:39 PM

glad i am not the only one, no icons in Sinking sands or MajDul

Dolby 09-16-2005 12:44 AM

SOE changed the maps to hardcoded so the fog of war shows up. I have to change something in the core_process xml. I'll get to it asap. In the mean time explore!

tannix 09-16-2005 09:38 AM

Thanks for this - I didn't realize how much I rely on EQ2Maps till it wasnt there!

Dolby 09-16-2005 02:55 PM

Custom POI icons for these zones have been fixed. Please update via the patcher or download the latest manual version.

Azounstone 09-17-2005 05:06 AM

I still can not see any of the POI's for Sinking Sands. A guildie can so i deleted the full install and did a fresh install but still there are no POI's showing on my maps.

Do you have any suggestions please as I am so use to the little coloured icons being on my map I am lost without them?

Thanks in advance for your attention to this.

taco-man 09-17-2005 07:35 AM

try using the redownload all files button on the updater, perhaps that will fix it(worth a try anyway).

Profit 09-17-2005 07:41 AM

Taco, he's completely installed it afresh.

His setup is exactly the same as mine - Profit+EQ2Map.

I know this as he's my guild leader!

Dungbeard 09-17-2005 07:49 AM

I also have this problem. Eq2map works fine except when I go to any of the Dof zones, then It will revert to the default ingame map.

I've upgraded to the latest auto-patcher version, completely uninstalled and reinstalled, and removed all other mods to no avail.

I have noticed, that whenever I run the auto-updater, even if i run it, close it and then run it immediately again, it always downloads the following files.

core_underlay.xml
Antonica West (Icons)
Qeynos: South Qeynos (Icons)
Pillars of Flame (Icons)

Dungbeard 09-17-2005 08:59 AM

Ok after some playing around I managed to fix this. What I did was delete the eq2.ini file and delete the eq2map folder. Then ran the patcher and let it create its own eq2.ini pointing to UI/EQ2MAP. I put all my individual custom pieces in the EQ2MAP folder and now I see POI's in all zones and my custom windows still work.

Azounstone 09-17-2005 09:51 AM

As Profit mentioned I have done a fresh install but in addition to this I have also followed your instructions and downloaded ALL files again. Just checked and still it does not show any POI's for DoF but does show POI's for the rest of the maps in the game.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

I will delete the eq2.ini and create a new one in case this solves the problem as the poster above mentions. If this fixes it then I will post again here stating so but otherwise please advise further.

Azounstone 09-18-2005 07:08 AM

I have now reinstalled the full game and done a fresh install of Profit+EQ2 Map but despite this it does not show POI's on my maps for the new regions of DOF.

The POI's still show for the other regions of the world.

Further assistance would be appreciated.

taco-man 09-18-2005 07:14 AM

hmm, i cant really offer much help since i havent played eq2 in over 6 months. I dont have dof (or even an active account anymore) so maybe someone else can help ??? i just dont have a way to test it, sorry :(

Azounstone 09-18-2005 08:38 AM

A shame you are unable to assist but I do appreciate the advice given so far.

In addition to not having any POI's it is worth noting that when I place my cursor over any of the yellow circles (zoneing point which do show) it does not show the map coords in the coords area like it use to.

Anyone else an expert on this mod that can help to resolve this issue please?

Similar problem

I posted in this thread as it seemed to be part of my problem. I can not see any POIs in any zone at all. I have uninstalled, deleted the entire folder, and redownloaded, then tried the key to redownload all files. Still no luck. Any help?

Thanks,
Meleena
Monk Chick of Kithicor

*update* I also just checked my eq2.ini file and it is listed correctly as:
cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP
cl_ui_subdir UI

taco-man 09-18-2005 03:10 PM

Kaldia, are you using a different language? that is probably what is causing it, make sure you are updating/have the eq2.ini in the right folder for the laguage you use.

I only speak english (damned us americans! lol)
The only change I have made between the last time it worked and now (other than the DoF expansion) is that I was having a common crash in eq (when you try to change chat options and it freezes eq2 completely) so, at the suggestion of an eq2 forum dude, I deleted all .ini files.

When I first realized the problem of my missing POIs I figured an uninstall/reinstall would work. when that didn't work, I did the 'download all files' button, still no go. I see the map, and the eq 'sponsored' POIs (like the bank in NQ) I also see my arrow, and my groupmates dots (tho no number on them as I remember seeing awhile ago). I cant quite figure out what i screwed up in order to fix it again.

Thanks for taking the time to review this, and help me troubleshoot.

try changing the custom folder that you are using, see if that works. just put a new folder in your ui folder, and then select it in the drop down box for ui directory in the options window of the updater.

I tried a new folder, both by coping the default UI to the folder first, and then adding in the maps, and i tried it by just coping all the files from my eq2map folder to a new one called maps. neither has worked. My boyfriend also plays, and his map is working fine. We're gonna try to copy his folder to me next, and see if that helps.

I'm having the same problem and no amount of reinstalling or repatching seems to fix it.
