ProfitUI and Update Sept 23 2009

The new update breaks ProfitUI, well sorta. Due to changes in the quest journal to add a new feature (achievement tracking ability) using ProfitUI will cause your EQ2 client to crash. After working with it on the test server and doing a little research here is a simple walk around till someone issues a fix.

1. Go to your ProfitUI folder (<your EQ2 main folder\UI\ProfitUI
2. Delete the files eq2ui_journals.xml and eq2ui_journals_quest.xml and leave the active file alone
3. Log into EQ2 and enjoy

These does elimate the ability to click on the Wiki, Zam links to quests in the quest journal window but you will still have the ability using the active quest tracking window.

The update you can download with the new windows doesnt show the truimph progress and what you have to do to get them... it just shows a blank screen in that window why I went with the deleting the files way.

Also delete this file eq2i_mainhud_achievments.xml

Does this mean there is no support to update Profit for the new GU?

check out the auto updater, it seems to have the fixes in it.

If only the auto updater worked on Vista Ultimate 64 (see my thread still waiting for a reply).

Unfortunately, even though I can see my Achievement amounts, I cannot see what I need to do to accomplish them.

been having an issue since update with the screen blacking out when in lower settings (performance and raid) works great in quality have done the above erasing of files and still nothing.

That is why I wrote the walkthrough you see linked by the OP... if you use the updater it downloads a fix and you can see the achievement window etc but you cant see what needs to be done to get them..

That is why I said to delete the journal files and let it load the content from them from the default UI. Worked for us on test :)

Saying profit isn't being updated is totally wrong. gm9 stopped and Chrislau picked it up. Hes done a great job a matter of fact the auto updater updated for todays patch the files. Only need to delete the achievments file until Chrislau gets an update. As to why start menu is all unaligned is beyond me cuz that file don't exist in profit folder.

Bottom bar does have an issue in the atk field but sure that will get fixed as well.

The inspect window is not currently working after profit update. Any chance for a fix?

Thanks for the gratitude but I did not really fix Profit, just stumbled upon the way to make it work with the update.

As for the inspect window there are a few inspect windows or windows I call inspect windows, if you describe it in more detail I can look at it, have enough xml experience to be dangerous :-P, and see what I can do.

so upon updating my profit i came across that my stuff was not updating to the right folder you should make sure that you are pathing to Cdrive/programfiles/sony/everquest II and not C/programfiles/sony online entertainment/installedgames/everquest II. your ui will not update. so i got my journal working but my Character Development & Acheivment window is not working right. i have the Character Development part but the 3 trees i can not see them. all i see is a green cricle with a arm in it with 8 points in all my trees other then that there is no trees there says i have the aas spent but cant see the trees

Deleted the files I listed above in the original walkthrough I posted to SOE forums... but read the actual SOE post as I edited it adding an additional file.. then log into game.. this should fix the AA problem and achievement problem guys

another quirk is that there is an achievement privacy option that is supposed to be on the persona/options tab that isnt in the update for profit yet.

Countdown Timers
 

notices that with the latest update the countdown timers on the spell/combat art re-use are no longer appearing. even after using the latest update

I am reading the different things not working or having issues, I will look into fixing them tomorrow, keep in mind I am not a ProfitUI developer and my xml skills can never come close to the skills of GM9 and others who have fixed updates since GM9's departure but I will do what I can to see what I can get working and will post a link to an update file.

cool. However there are files on the auto updater so not sure why people not using that. I'm sure Chris will get to these over next couple days as he did take over the project to the best of my knowledge.

I used the updater, but it did not fix my AA issue :(

i had to uninstall profit folder and reinstall to get all the new things working but i cant seem to fiqure out where to edit the quickraid buttons for my macro (j-cap, rezz and so on) any help for a newb :D.

DOH, deleted the achievement folder...working now!

And I do understand, I do not want to step on Chris's toes which is why I am going to do what I can for now till he can fix it himself. The auto updater makes the game usable but doesnt address the achievement problem. Someone else posted the solution which is to delete the journal file and the achievement file or folder as he stated. This is a temporary solution and will cause the journal not to function as it did before IE the wiki links etc but it will allow you to use it till Chris has a chance to fix it or I can get the window fixed until again Chris can get it fixed. (think I repeated myself too many times there hehe am tired)

delete eq2ui_mainhud_achievements.xml in the Profit ui folder. This fixes the aa issue.

Remove the line

<Window Name="StartMenu" alignment="3" alignment_offset="0,37" backdrop_mo_o="1" backdrop_n_o="1" foreground_mo_o="1" foreground_n_o="1" frame_mo_o="1" frame_n_o="1" locked="true" size="192,720" window_style="1" />
varibles will vary but you're lookin for the startmenu item delete that line. This will fix the start menu from looking all crappy without having to delete your other window locations.

The Journal file has been updated and is available on the auto updater. The achievement file hower hasn't been updated and deleting that file from profit ui folder causes it to show the default window which in fact works great. Only change in the achievement file that is actually causing the problem is the slider for the amount of xp you are giving to advancement points.

Most interestingly I don't have the eq2ui_mainhud_achievements.xml in my UI folder, so it has to be quite an old file or whatever.
If someone sends that to me I can set the updater to delete it automatically as it has a function to delete obsolete files.

Scrolling Maintained Spells Window
 

Since GU#53, the ability to scroll down in the Maintained Spells Window has been left inoperable for me. It will do a scroll from side to side instead (talking about using the mouse wheel to do this scrolling), I widened the window so that there was no reason for it to do this and most of the time it does nothing. I resized the window vertically and it sometimes allowed some partial scrolling but it was incorrect (it would not scroll all the way down or all the way up).

I have run the auto-updater as of 3am EDT, and run using the 1920x1200 resolution (using the preset for the most part, I of course edited a few window locations like the chat windows...).

i'm a little bit confused :confused:, it works fine on my side, did u guys checked the auto updater?

I guess that is because you do not have that achievments file either.
No idea where it comes from actually..

the first AA window was called "achievements" it's probably a hold over from old installs of profit.

btw will update persona file in the next couple of hours.

Don't bother, ProfitUI has not had that file since v4.3. The old ProfitUI window wouldn't have worked since GU40. Ergo they must have other mods installed.

PS: Same for the inspect window mentioned on page 1 of the thread, that window has in fact never been part of ProfitUI.

A big crash with Profit UI and GU 53
 

My EQ2 since GU53, instead, crashes altogether as soon as it logs into the zone. It used to work before I ran Profit Autoupadater so I tend to think the fault lies in there. I tried reinstalling EQ2 but no joy, so I uninstalled, deleted every file and directory and I am now downloading it all again. If this doesn't work I think I will need to find an exorcist.:mad:
