Well, you said you'd tried loading the Info Center with the English version of the game, and it worked fine, so it would seem that there's something wrong with the German version (or at least with your setup thereof). But as I've absolutely *no* knowledge of the non-English versions of the game, I'm in no position to offer anything more specific. There may very well be differences in the way files are set up or in how the XML is structured, but I don't know the first thing about them. Sorry.

Thanx for the info, Darryl. :) :o :D

Edit:
Hmm, found something out;

I shortened one of the Notes that did not work respectively didn't show anything. And what do you assume: Now I see the (shortened) text.

OK srry guess i read that wrong..

Update!

I just uploaded an updated version of the Info Center.

It contains four new files: a look at which player-crafted furniture items provide the best status cost reduction, a list of placeable books (arranged by what the books look like), a list of the "fun" spells (or "fluff" spells) (or "flavor" spells) available to members of each class, and a guide to optimizing your display settings.

The guide to display settings is not mine, by the way; it's the guide originally posted to the official EQ2 forums over a year ago by "ShamaKavella." But it's *incredibly* informative.

I've also corrected a few minor typos and errors in other files.

-- Darryl (Milquetowst)

P.S. -- One thing I'd like to include, but haven't, is a list of the evac points in various zones for the scouts' "Escape" spell. I haven't yet found such a list assembled by anyone else, and haven't yet gotten up the interest to try to compile one myself. If someone happens to know of such a list, please send it to me or let me know where I can find it! Thanks!

Hey, I've been a long time user of your mods, the custom journal and the custom help window.

Some things your journal had that seems to be missing from this mod are the list of access quests, lore and legends quests, and the hunting guide.

Someone obviously didn't read the "Welcome to the Info Center" message closely. :D

All those items can be found under the "Writs, Etc." tab.

Great job DBurgdof, I'll be including this in the next release of eXtreme. It's well layed out and full of info. Again great job man:)

Slinthas 01-12-2006 12:32 PM

ok, well...i really want this to work lol, but its not. Im using Fetish Nightfall, with the goth theme, and all I get is the black box. I put both your files in my fetish directory, I edited the mainhud to include what you said was needed, but all I get is the black box. Could it be because of fetish? (i wouldnt think so but you never know) or anything else you can think of? ( no i didnt install it to my default ui directory)

Aaah, yes you're right... I was looking in all the folders and I didn't see those ones. In the old milquetowst_info they were in the quests folder.

One thing I'm doing with my hunting guide is putting in the exact levels for the special small instanced areas. I really hate getting to a new place only to find out that everything is already grey or, on the other hand, seeing that everything is way too tough, zoning out, and then finding out the quest only allowed you access one time only.

I'm glad you're back making great UI mods again!

Well, the idea is that you have the "Heritage Quests" tab and then the "Writs, Etc." tab which is sort of "Other Quests." :D

If you're putting together a newer and/or more complete hunting guide, I'd be happy to replace mine with yours when you're done!

Mounts

You forgot the GL40 mounts: Mistrunner and Nightmare =)
Cost: 400000sp, 19p, 20g, 1c
Speed: +48%
Other Bonuses: +200 to all resists

Also, there's the DoF quest mount:
+40% speed
"This paticular mount can be earned through questing. Talk to El'Khazi, Purveyor of Fine Carpets. He is said to be at the croc hunter camp Just northwest of the docks in the Sinking Sands. This is a 4 part quest."

Btw, got the exact details from http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.ph...splay&ceid=103

::EDIT::
Btw, the four t6 drinks at the bottom all last 2h15m at pristine... also, what does the m/c in the drink/food section mean?

::EDIT2::
Ghoulbane walkthrough is missing the "Kill Everling in Nek Castle" step - it comes after the 3 nameds listed (torig, creator, and spectre)

The Problem with the German Server is, that UI Info Files larger than 4500 Bytes are not displayed. On the EU/US Server there not that Problem.

Things tab

Did this tab get brought over? I've looked but can't find it or its contents inside the info center.

No, the copy of the "Things I Wish I'd Known Earlier" post from the official EQ2 forums did *not* get moved from the old help window to the Info Center. While interesting, it's not really the sort of thing you're going to be referencing regularly while in the game, and more importantly, as the original post hasn't been updated in almost a year, it is now rather seriously out of date.

A big thanks

This is the handiest addition I could have ever imagined being available. Thanks very much.
Careful, you might get a request to join their team soon. ;)

One more thing. I may have missed it somewhere in here, but is your handle here your name on Permafrost? I've been on Perma since release and can hook you up with a good weapon or adeptIII fighter ability possibly.

It stands for "minutes per combine," a basic measure of how "efficient" it is to make the various foods and drinks. (The "Notes" file under the "Cookbook" tab explains that and a great many other things!)

Thanks for the additions/corrections; I'll get them into the next release!

You're welcome. But I really only made it for myself. :P

I play Milquetowst (Dirge/Armorer, Freeport), Rainbeau (Fury/Provisioner, Qeynos) and Grapefruit (Warlock/Sage, Qeynos).

The Info Center has been updated again.

This time, I added the "Things I Wish I'd Known Earlier" message, having decided that even though it's out of date in some respects, it still contains a great deal of worthwhile information. (I've included some of the more useful follow-up posts from the message's forum thread which post-date the last edit of the message itself.)

I also added a list of languages in Norrath (with notes about how they're learned), "blocked out" space for tier 7 info as it becomes available, and corrected a few more minor errors and omissions.

Thanks to those who've provided feedback and suggestions!

Since the window *is* appearing, but the text files aren't, the problem is actually most likely that the data files are in the wrong place. You'd probably be better off asking for help in the eliteui discussion thread though, rather than here, since I'm not sure exactly how the window has been incorporated into eliteui, or in what ways it might have been modified.

I'm having trouble with this mod. Here's what I did..

First I opened the zip.. then took the eq2ui_mainhud_infocenter.xml file and put it in MYMODS

Then I created a folder called infocenter inside MYMODSand put everything else in there

Then I copied the eq2ui_mainhud.xml into MYMODS and opened it in notepad and added <include>eq2ui_mainhud_infocenter.xml</include> saved it

I get the window, the tabs, but only the "social" tab has any info.

Faetyl 01-22-2006 06:23 PM

Request

Truely amazing work as always Darryl!

I have a request if at all possible...

Could you place the infocenter as an object within the journal xml rather than mainhud perhaps?

Reason I ask is so many modders place thier add-on mods within the mainhud and I hate to have anything I offer possibly overwrite what they've done or perhaps require the user to manually edit xml in order to get the mod to work.

I've never seen an update to the main eq2ui_journals.xml and thought It an excellent place for such an item.
------
Also, I was thinking the "notes" could be provided within their own window as well so any updates to the infocenter would be contained within and not affect the notes xml if needed.

For example:
eq2ui_journals_InfoCenter.xml
eq2ui_journals_notes.xml

It's great to have you back modding that's for sure!!!

You shouldn't have created any folder; you should just have moved the "infocenter" folder directly from the zip into your "MYMODS" folder. If, when you unzipped it, you didn't have such a folder (and its various subfolders), then you need to redownload the mod, as your unzip program messed things up. :D

I'll give that a try right now and see if it works. :D

I'm not quite following you. The "notes" text files are already in their own folder. The download has to include blank notes files, of course, but as long as you have backup copies of your modified notes files, you can easily replace the default ones with your modified ones whenever the mod is updated.

I suppose I could make a separate version available that doesn't include the notes files, for the benefit of those who simply want to download without overwriting their modified files, but it frankly seems a bit silly. :)
