DarqUI Raid Window

Description
Raid Window:

v2.1.0:

Please click the link below to visit the new DarqUI v2.1 page which includes a new update for this window. Thank you for using the DarqUI interface pieces.

Latest Update for DarqUI Raid Window:
DarqUI v2.1 Updater

v1.42 Update for Non-English Clients. This update adds a class tag to the five spell sets to load cures automatically for non-English clients. If you have already downloaded v1.4 for an English client, you do not need this update. No other features were changed from version 1.4. The updated DarqUI group window v1.42 is also included in this package. You do not need to download both packages separately.

Please note, you will need to re-run the button utility (included) to add the new class tag to your character sets. Thanks to Taxor for his assistance with this update.

v1.4 New Features:

Auto-load Spell Sets: Spell sets are now selected automatically by tagging them with your characters' names. No more scrolling through button sets every time you log in with an alt.

Auto-detect Curing Classes: Click-to-cure buttons are now automatically populated according to the capabilities of your class. You can optionally attach class-specific tells, commands, etc. to the buttons.

More Spell Sets: Two more spell sets have been added to accommodate more of your alt characters.

Other improvements: Preset spell choices have been updated to reflect the new Sentinel's Fate level tier. The DarqUI Button Utility has been reworked for the new and expanded features.

Please take a few minutes to read through the help file included with the download. It contains extensive instructions and advice for getting the most out of this interface piece.

For current users: The format of an individual spell set did not change from the last version, but the new XML data block requires five spell sets instead of three. The first three sets can be safely replaced with your current ones and the last two can be left blank or configured with the utility. (Re-label the sets with your characters' names to activate the auto-load feature.) Your current click-to-cure block will be obsolete, so if you have added any custom cure code you will need to use the updated configuration utility. Each curing class/archetype now has its own custom code area instead of all in one.

v1.3:

Command macros on the click-to-cure buttons. This was added to give curing classes a way to coordinate healer channel information, although creative players who don't have cures can use the command function to build new targeted commands into the raid and group windows. (The new DarqUI group window is also included in this package. You do not need to download both separately.)

Layout improvements. Choose your preferred raid window arrangement from 8 preset configurations. The window now holds the current mode when you scroll through spell sets or make other adjustments. There is also a new classic option that switches the group backgrounds from transparent to the 4-color EQII default style.

Audible Raidwide Curse. This setting monitors curse activity raidwide and provides you with instant audible feedback. Allows priests to be more responsive to cures without constantly watching the raid window. Can be toggled on and off from the options panel. Raiders can combine this with v1.3 of the DarqUI Threat/Detrimental Window which automatically delivers healer channel text announcements for selected impairments.

Simplified Default Settings. All default options can now be set with simple variables. Previously several of the choices required digging into the XML code.

Version 1.10: Both windows have been updated to include a command (macro) facility which extends the use of the quick-cast buttons to non-spellcast commands. Optionally execute a targeted command string of your choice along with, or instead of, the spell or combat art using the familiar %T mnemonic. Use the new command feature to assist, follow, do emotes, send targeted text to specific channels or players, create more complex group/raid/say/tells, cast a follow-up spell. A new tooltip format lists your macro commands along with spell name text.

Other improvements: Cure Check feature now prevents casting cures when the detrimental is uncurable.

Quick-cast Buttons with Spell Icons: These targeted spell buttons can be configured with the actual spell icons instead of numbers. A simple utility (with a complete help file) is included with the download for setting up your buttons. Switch between three sets of four buttons in the raid window, and three sets of five in the group window. Choose one of two locations for the quick-cast icons: over top of the player health bars where they appear only for the player you are mousing over, or on the right side where they appear continuously. If you can cut-and-paste text in Notepad, you can set up your spell icons.

Click-to-Cure with Cure Check: These cures work as expected, but they have a feature that I haven't seen on other interfaces which I call Cure Check. If this option is turned on, the click-to-cure button will do a check to see if there is at least one detrimental effect of that type on the player at the moment you click. If not, the button doesn't respond, your spellcast is not interrupted, and the tell/groupsay/raidsay does not go into chat. This will help in some cases where the same player would have been over-cured by multiple priests. Also with this feature, a priest could cast a long heal and then pre-spam a cure button without missing the heal if the cure turned out to not be needed.

I hope you enjoy using this mod. I have included the group window with the raid window because they were designed together, and they operate the same way. But you can use one without the other if you prefer. If you like these windows, be sure to check out my Clock/Countdown Timer, and my Threat window which uses the Cure Check feature for remedy potions.

Settings reset everytime I

I really love the features of the raid window but everytime I log out and back in the window resets it's position and settings.

Please note that setting defaults has changed in version 1.3 of the DarqUI Raid Window. Refer to the help file included with the download for configuring your default settings.

Baidien, thanks for using the raid window and for your feedback. My raid director has already given me a hard time about the group layout reverting to default when he logs out, so that change is in the works for a future version.

In the meantime, there are 7 default settings you can easily change to appear like you want them every time you log in. Open up your raid window in Notepad, search for the white text below, and make the change shown in blue depending on your preference:

1. Which button set to display on login (default is Bank0):
<Page Name="Init" OnShow="Parent.Controls.Bank1.Visible=true
Choices are Bank0, Bank1, Bank2, Bank3 (Bank3 turns off the spell icons)

2. Line Hilite (default is true):
Parent.Controls.TogHilite.Checked=false

3. Level Display (default is false):
<Data Name="LevelDisp" Value="true" />

4. Cancel Spellcast (default is true):
<Data Name="CancelSpellcast" Value="false" />

5. Cure Check (default is true):
<Data Name="CureCheck" Value="false" />

6. Quick-cast button location (defaults to health/mana bar area):
If you want the spell icons to default to the right-hand side of the raid window, search for the line that begins with <Page Name="Init" which should be in the neighborhood of line 142. Open up a blank line right below this one. Add the following on the line by itself:
Parent.Controls.BankTogRight.Press=true

7. Raid Group Arrangement (default is 1-across by 4-down):
If you want the default group layout to be something other than 1x4, search for the line that begins with <Page Name="Init" which should be on or about line 142. Open up a new blank line directly below it. If you added the line in step 6 to change your button location, the new blank line from this step must go directly below that. Add one of the following blue choices on the new line by itself:
If your quick-cast buttons are over the health bars:
For 2x2: Parent.Size=510,216
For 3x2: Parent.Size=760,216
For 4x1: Parent.Size=1010,113
If your quick-cast buttons are on the right-hand side:
For 2x2: Parent.Size=646,216
For 3x2: Parent.Size=964,216
For 4x1: Parent.Size=1282,113

EDIT: When you make changes in Notepad, make sure Word Wrap is unchecked.

Utility Icon Problems FYI

I couldn't see or assign any spell icons in the configuration utility. After some research I found a setting in Mozilla Thunderbird mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image=true needed to be toggled to false. This is a security threat according to Mozilla as spammers can verify your email address when an image is DL'd to your system.

It is a poorly implemented security feature as it should have only blocked images from remote sites by emails and not other sofware packages like McKaffee and Darqs configuration utility. I also have to click the allow content from this site warning in explorer.

Couple of suggestions.

First if we could get a thread on the forums to discuss this great mod and utility.

Secondly, I suggest that the character lvl spot be the click able assist so that would free up one more spell slot.

An Inquisitor has a lot of things going on (spells) that can be targeted on a player more than just a heal or cure. (Haven't got my cures to show yet, but maybe I need to be in combat or need something to cure first.) A toggle from one set of four spells to another and back would be useful.

As a ranger there are some spells that I dare not use except in very specific cases. If my healer or mage has a heavy agro, then the flame arrow or flying hawk could be used to break that agro so the next hitter could take it. I wouldn't use those spells unless my group or raid was experienced in their use. But those could prevent a wipe with enough experience.

Thanks for the great mod and the utility is pretty awesome too.

Post Re: Couple of suggestions.

Kecks, thank you for your comments. Putting an assist function under the archetype icons has been suggested several times (for both group and raid windows), and it would indeed free up a spell button for a good proportion of raiders and groupers that need it. I've been trying to resist adding "tricky" hidden controls that aren't immediately obvious from looking at the window, although a button outline could be raised around the archetype icon on mouseover as a visual cue, similar to the spell buttons themselves. Let me test it out a bit, you may have convinced me.

Moving the scroll arrows that switch between spell sets out onto the main window is something I gave up on in favor of a more streamlined raid window. My preference would be forward and reverse buttons that follow the spell icons themselves, since this is where your mouse is positioned when you need to switch. Like this:

http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/a...rollmockup.jpg

There is a pile of extra code associated with doing something like this as opposed to a single set of VCR controls on the options panel, in a mod that's already fairly code-heavy. If I can come up with a clean way to add it, I'll certainly give it a try. Maybe one day the developers will give us an "OnShiftHover" parameter so you can hold down the Shift key and get set #2, etc. like the hotbars.

Also, thanks for the tip for Firefox users. I admit I don't use Firefox and so I haven't tested the utility with it. The guide advises using Internet Explorer to run the utility for this reason. I would also like to see Firefox users set disable_remote_image back to true once you are done with the utility. Spammers using embedded images is a very real privacy threat. MS Outlook also has a no-remote-images view for HTML email, but for whatever reason it's not connected with the ability to view local pictures in IE.

I wonder whether there's a way to include multiple macro lines in a macro? Does it recognize \ n linebreaks or something?

Your UI is very well written Darq but there is one fatal flaw with it IMO, and this by no means is meant to be a insult.

Just getting the UI started is a chore and rather hassling. Having to go through and create the data for the files is awfully tedious.

The data should already be present like it is in other full UI's. It is easier for the end user to make adjustments here and there rather than having to go through the whole creation process.

The webpage is a novel idea but I think the novelty really wears itself thin rather quickly. Perhaps instead of using the resources to create that webpage it would have been more productive to just have the data already created for the most commonsense abilities for those classes much like ProfitUI or FetishUI do. I think you have a winner on your hands with features, but I think if you streamlined the installation process and made it more readily accessible that even more people would be on this mod. If you wish to have the webpage customizability... atleast preload the cures for your users.

Having to do EVERYTHING isnt really a fun thing to have to go through.

But like i said, its a fine product to be sure. But i think to hit that mass appeal...there should be less a person has to do to get it working.

Nice job so far though.

Praetorian, if this UI piece evolves beyond three button sets and cures (which it will, I'm working on some new features), the browser script is indeed going to be a liability since the user's previous choices are not saved and retrieved between configuration sessions. I have two choices to remedy this: a compiled app or some kind of web-based app that stores user data to a web server. Both choices have pluses and minuses.

The decision has been to keep as much excess data out of the UI windows as possible for the sake of reliability, which is why you don't see any preset spells for classes inside the files or in support files aside from the utility itself. Both windows are already very heavy as-is, and I prefer to see tighter code with some back-end user setup as opposed to automatic everything which becomes high maintenance and prone to bugs. But based on input from players including you, the click-to-cures may be handled with a class detect in future versions. This would enlarge the code but would also remove the need to configure cures with the utility, as long as the user does not want any additional macro commands attached to the cures.

I am working on some updates for the group and raid windows, but I'm waiting to see what kind of impact the Sentinel's Fate expansion will have on the UI. Once I know more, I'll be able to continue with the improvements. Thank you for your comments.

Can confirm the Raid window's broken. Error message is "/usabilityonplayer: 'Parent.Member1.Basic.Name.Text' could not be found in your group or raid."

I use this mod all the time on raids, would love to see it fixed.

Dark Grue, my testers and I have not been able to duplicate this error in the raid window, although from the date of your post I would suspect some code changes by the game developers that were intended to throttle excessive use of "usability" commands in player-made macros. There have been multiple SOE code tweaks on this issue since late February, so I would give the custom UI another try. It's been working fine for me.

Went back, gave it another try. I haven't extensively tested it (just did a quick spot-check by grouping with a guildie and seeing if I could cast anything), but I'm going to tentatively say it's working again.

It definitely wasn't working at the time I and others were reporting problems. I did test it extensively then as well as try and check under the hood to see if I could see what the problem is (I'm pretty handly with code but turns out, without a reference to see what varables were being derefenced, it might as well be Sanskrit).

I'm looking forward to using this again in a raid now it's working again, as I wasn't kidding when I said I relied on this mod. I too, was using an alternative UI for the interim, and it chafed!

Thanks for looking into this, look forward to the enhancements!
