Gear Buff Macros
Configure special macro buttons in a new window that will automatically equip an activatable "clicky" item, cast the buff, then re-equip the previous item. See image below. Inspired by this conversation on the EQ2Wire forums
A variety of item types beyond gear pieces are good candidates for a buff macro including totems (runspeed, invisibility, etc.), mender bot, teleport items, food and drink, tinkered lifestones and manastones, repair kits, divining rods. If you use a specific mount when tradeskilling, you can set up a macro to switch to it from inventory
Use macro tiles to cast item buffs and spells in three ways:
+ directly from inventory
+ equip and cast
+ equip, cast and re-equip
Monitor Maintained spells when available to remind you to recast the buff
Send a custom line of text into your chat log to assist with ACT refresh timers
Normal and small tile sizes built-in
Toggle the window from Start menu or Command Bar
Optionally display the macro window on login

Setup is relatively painless using the DarqUI utility, and you will probably want to use it even though the in-game Window Manager has a setup page. There is plenty of help if you click the [?] on the Gear Buff Macros utility page.
Group and Raid Windows
Added a setting to allow casting cures without a detriment icon present. Useful for "pre-curing" on certain encounters. See image below. Thanks to Zorbac for the idea

DarqUI Unified combines the best of DarqUI, DarqUI Live and EQ2Inventory into one, with some useful new features. Standard DarqUI users can now choose to make quick, permanent configuration changes right from the game screen while playing, as an alternative to loading up the external window utility. There is no longer a limit to the number of characters that can be customized, and many of the settings that were previously shared by all of your characters can now be configured for each character separately.

DarqUI Live users can take advantage of an all-new configuration app with features like Quick Setup, backup and restore, character and spell file maintenance, and a new lookup feature that queries Daybreak servers for spell lines and icons to use for your spell buttons. The DarqUI Unified configuration app has been rewritten from the ground up to provide all of the conveniences from the DarqUI Window Utility and the Live Updater. You will find many usability improvements and an uncluttered design that matches the familiar in-game window manager.

Large size windows DarqUI Unified offers larger-size versions of many windows to accommodate higher resolution monitors. Choose the size you prefer from the Updates page of the utility. These include Active Journal (quest helper), Casting Bar, Chat, Dissonance, Examine, Experience Bar, Group, Implied Target, Maintained Spell Monitor, Maintained Spells, Mercenary, NPC Spell Monitor, Pet, Player, Raid, Savagery, Target, Threat and Tracking. DarqUI windows that were already usable with higher resolutions include Detrimental Effects, Hotbars and Spell Effects.

EQ2Inventory Track and search equipment, bags, bank, shared bank, house vault, Wardrobe contents, mount and Familiar collections and up to 9 houses, guild hall and player-made dungeons per character from the DarqUI Unified interface.

Chat Log Parser features keyword, category and date/time searches that recognize English, German and French log files. Use the preset category filters or build your own using regular expressions.

EQ2MAP integration Install and update EQ2MAP alongside DarqUI with a single click.

Help system Help files are now available for all DarqUI Unified windows and utility functions. Context-sensitive help information can be accessed externally from the window utility or from the window manager in-game. Use the new, more robust "Make default" feature on the Files page of the utility to set DarqUI as your default. This will prevent needing to use /loadui from the game window which crashes the awesomium browser.

Spell Suggestions There is a new French spell suggestion file in addition to German and English.

DarqUI Unified Notifications is a Windows tray icon that checks periodically for DarqUI and EQ2MAP updates. More information for setting up and using DarqUI_Notify can be found here. The app is optional, and is included in the download on this page.

.Net 4 is installed as part of the OS.


1) What icon was in the box before clicking it -- blank, default lightning bolt, or the icon from a lookup? 2) Do you get a pop-up window with blank icons before getting the error? 3) Switch to the Icon Bar setup page. What happens when you click More icons?

Running the new gear buff setup on Win10, as administrator, EQ not loaded, and getting an Unhandled Exception "Index was outside the bounds of the array" whenever I select an icon for the macros.The Exception text is

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate the feedback. 1) Census lookups for names with quotation marks have been fixed for the next utility version.

2) Controls can be added to change the order of tiles and import from another character, and leave misspellings in the input box.

3) I'll look at reducing the width of the tiles, although I want to make sure the window doesn't look too much like a standard hotbar. In fact check your messages in the next day or so, if you don't mind. I will have some things for you to try.

4) Not sure about monitoring Maintained spells on a per-item basis. If you don't want to monitor a buff, you would leave the spell name blank on that tile, no?

5) On the above question, you can check the box for "display this tile" even though there is nothing specified, would this answer it? If you don't want the default lightning bolt there are plenty of blank icons in the libraries to choose from.

If you are using DarqUI by itself you are using the default map, and there is a gold wing icon in the upper left-hand corner. If you are using EQ2MAP the icon was moved to the upper right, and you may need to stretch the window to see it.

Last update notes from daybreak: "Fast Travel has been made free for members on all non-timelocked servers."


Question: How do we use this feature with DarqUI installed? I don't see any options on the map window, etc.

Any chance of adding in place holders (empty space) for the empty ones as with the Icon Buff bar? So the order can be sort of "fixed" ?

Like "Reliable" Gnomish Pacemaker.

Love it! Awsome job as always!!

A few requests

Would it be possible to scale the backdrop down a tad? even with small tiles each button turns out pretty big.

Would it be possible to add in a 3 colour option for things that ISNT monitored ? sort of to indicated "you gotta check this yourself", and make the Check maintained on a Per item basis ?

Would it be possible to add in a "swap buttons around" option ? to order them once you got them in ?

Would it be possible to (if it isnt already and i just havent found it) copy setup from one character to another?

Oh and a few QoL thing, in the utility if i misspell the name of an item during setup, could you have the input box not clear ? That way we can just correct the spelling instead of starting from scratch.
Also is there anyway to force a refresh of just that window? Ie. im using the utility to configure but in game at the same time due to spelling and items and all that good stuff, would be fab to be able to hit a button to refresh just that part.

You can, although if you are opening the Icon Bar on login it would be easier to let the Icon Bar do it. Open darqui_custom_iconbar.xml and on line 2 add the blue text:

Darq, I notice that the Icon Bar self-loads when I start up. However, the Custom Harvesting Window does not... I have a macro that does /show_window Custom.Harvesting to open it. Can I modify the harvesting window so it opens like the Icon Bar?

2) Make sure you have Microsoft .NET 4
3) Try running the program as administrator from the desktop

When I double click the Darqui Unified exe file to install, nothing happens. I'm running Windows 10 if it makes any difference.

Never mind: a new installation has solved the issue.
BTW, thanks for that great UI. I feed naked without it
I had exactly the same problem.
I deleted the eq2ui_mainhud_windowmanager.xml, ran the utility, then it worked again.

Yes, on the Cures tab put "Cure" in the spell name slot if you are a priest, "Cure Spells" if you are a paladin, etc. Unchecking the Cure Check box will override the detriment counter and allow you to cast from the icon whether curable or uncurable. Are you trying to pre-cure, as in casting a cure before an icon has appeared?

Error since last update

Hi, since last update, when I launch DarqUI Unified, I get that error:

"There was a problem loading the window manager. Some item lists and other custom selections may not be available. Element racine manquant."

Now, in game i'm unable to use your windows manager. Any idea ?

PS: I always launch DarqUI Unified as Administrator.


Never mind: a new installation has solved the issue.
