DarqUI Threat/Detrimental Window

Description
Threat/Detrimental Window:

v2.1.0:

Please click the link below to visit the new DarqUI v2.1 page which includes a new update for this window. Thank you for using the DarqUI interface pieces.

Latest Update for DarqUI
Threat/Detrimental Window:

DarqUI v2.1 Updater

v1.31 New Features:

Potion cure item numbers have been updated to match the new current tier potions. This is an incremental update only. Features in development will be published later as version 1.4 to correspond with the new group and raid window version 1.4 releases.

Please take a few minutes to read through the help file included with the download. It contains extensive instructions and advice for getting the most out of this interface piece.

v1.3:

Audible Personal Detrimentals. New interface controls provide you with instant audible feedback when selected impairments land on you. Choices can be customized on-the-fly so you can re-combine as needed for each encounter. Allows you to respond more freely to other gameplay elements without constantly watching your detrimentals during difficult encounters.

Text Channel Announcements. This feature was designed primarily for impairment feedback into raid healer channels, although all classes and playstyles can benefit. Delivers targeted text into raidsay or the chat channel of your choice each time a monitored impairment lands on you, increases in quantity, or gets cured/worn off. Channel name and command can be adjusted on-the-fly in the options panel. Send a test string into the channel informing healers which combination of your impairments you will be monitoring. Switch text monitoring on and off for each detrimental type with a single click.

Cancel Spellcast has been added to the options panel.

An implied target health bar was added, handy for any class to watch the health of the enemy or whoever currently has aggro. Click the bar to change focus to your target's target, be it friend or foe. This lets you switch reliably between the tank and his current enemy during encounters. Visibility of the health bar can be turned on and off from the options panel.

Version 1.1: Cure Check feature now prevents using a potion when the detrimental is uncurable.

This threat window is actually a composite of several game functions. It was designed from a tank's perspective to bring together information from several places on screen, but all classes can benefit from it. The flames have been replaced by two superimposed bars, a red one for aggro and a yellow one for secondary threat. The large red and yellow numbers are still there, but the bars give you a very graphical idea of relative hate. Your current target's name, health bar and health percent appear over the threat bars. The name of whoever has aggro goes below the bars (unless you have aggro, then it's empty. This mirrors the function of the implied target window.) Your own health and mana are above the threat area, again consolidating important combat info from other windows into one spot on the screen.

Your detrimentals appear on five buttons at the top, and current-tier potions (Dedicated Remedies) are tied to these buttons similar to click-to-cure spells. These buttons use a feature I call Cure Check, which means if the detrimental you click is not actually on you at the moment you click, the potion won't be consumed. This has already saved me a lot of potions, and more importantly it saves the wasted cooldown time so you're ready for the next detrimental immediately. The cure check also lets you pre-spam a cure potion in certain encounters without consuming the potion until the detrimental actually lands. Since there is no Curse cure potion, the curse icon sends "CURSED" text into groupsay and raidsay when you click it, again checking first to see if you actually have a curse on you. This could be synchronized with ACT sound triggers for added efficiency.

I hope you enjoy using this mod. If you like this window, be sure to check out my Raid and Group windows with real spell icons and click-to-cure buttons that use the Cure Check feature, and my Clock/Countdown Timer window also on EQ2Interface.com.

NIce job..on request

Great job on this...thanks! And v1.3 makes a good thing that much better. One request; is it possible to make the buttons a tickle larger?

Cheers and thanks again.

Post Re: NIce job..on request

Thank you, soundslikewood. I'm glad you're enjoying this mod. There should be room to add a few more pixels to the cure buttons, let me play around with it a bit.

Wyntakata, can you give me some more info about the group window issue you're having? That sounds like something that needs to be looked at.

Nice job..one (more) request

This is a very nice mod. I like how you've consolidated a vast amount of information into a small area letting me very quickly determine what is going on without having to look all over at many windows.

I use ProfitUI for most functions and I see this mod as a replacement for the set of 3 small bars Profit has for "self", "target", "implied target", plus the strong addition of an improved threat meter.

I could completely hide the ProfitUI window, except that on my healer or mage class characters, I can't use the self click to cure buttons to set off my cure spells. Somehow Profit detects which class I am playing and uses the appropriate spell instead of trying to use a potion I don't have. It would be really nice if this mod had similar functionality or if not exactly duplicating Profit, it at least gave the run-time option to set which class/spells to use instead of potions.

Gaean, thank you for your comments. The reasoning behind using the threat/detrimental window exclusively for potion cures comes from my assumption that the group and raid windows will be used exclusively for spell-based cures. To me, this seems perfectly logical: self-cures using self-only potions with self-only detrimental icons (threat window), in contrast with spell-based cures which can be cast on anyone using the group and raid window icons.

But from the perspective of a mage or paladin (neither of which I play) who is not in the habit of curing others, I guess I can see the logic of putting the spells alongside the potions, since those classes apparently don't reach for the group click-to-cures very often. I see the feature having two parts: the class detect, and a toggle to use that class's spells.

This does add a good bit more weight to the code. The more gears and pulleys you add, the more chance you have of something getting buggy. I've slowed down on the interface work until I can see what impact the new expansion will have on the UI, but once I know more about that I'll put some time into this request.

Re: Re: Nice job..one (more) request

Thank you for considering my request. I understand what you are saying about using the group and raid window for click to cure. You are right about mages and paladins who usually don't worry about curing the group. There is another case - healers who are soloing.

After getting used to using click to cure I often use it even for myself (as an Inquisitor) while solo. I know I could just use hotkeys in that case, but using click-to-cure all the time keeps me from getting in the habit of just hitting hot keys and then curing the wrong person when in a team. Since one doesn't have a team window when solo, another click-to-cure solution is needed.

Unhappy Having a slight problem

The icons of the detrimental effect don't seem to be showing any image until I am fighting. When I get detrimental effects on me, it will show the correct image with numbers to indicate several of them stacked of course but when I click to cure i get a message saying that I can only use items in my inventory or that I dont have any potions left. I have all such potions in my possession but this is apparantly not recognizing this. Also I am unable to open the Help file that came with the Zip file.

Xzerius, there is an empty placeholder box for each detrimental until it lands on you, so that's by design. The colored dots are meant to be hints for which impairment type goes with which button. Some interfaces have ghost images of the icons visible all the time, but I think these can be confusing -- just a cosmetic preference.

The potion message you are getting sounds like you have some of the Dedicated Remedy potions in your bank, shared bank, vault, or somewhere else besides your personal inventory. Move all the potions into your character's inventory and you'll be able to use them. I believe this is true for any interface piece that uses potions.

The help file is an HTML web page so make sure it's trying to open in your web browser. Also, make sure you're opening the help file from an unzipped folder from the zip file, not from the zip file itself.

click cures

Dark, Thanks for the great add-on. The click to cure doesn't seem to work anymore. Do we need to change something to point to Focused pots instead of the T8 Dedicated?

rolalinii, you should be able to drop the threat window into your ProfitUI folder and begin using it without any compatibility issues. Remember to save the existing threat window first in case you want to switch back.
